    Stanley no50 thread type?

Morning all, My Stanley 50 is missing a couple of parts, the threaded rod and wingnut (part M) that goes through the main body and the sliding section to secure the cutter. Currently I use the large knurled screw (part J) but this is too short for cutters over about half an inch. The threads...

    Trump and bleach

I don't usually allow imbecilic people or comments to irritate me. Suffice to say that today is a day that I pity normal Americans.

    Pvc pipe fitting needed

I need to atach the end of 15mm pvc pipe onto a flat piece of acrylic. So a hole in the acrylic and the end of the pipe goes onto the fitting without continuing through. Like a kind of gland fitting I guess. It's for a water feature. I cannot think of what it might be called. Like what you see...

    Hardwood offcuts... go there

Had a trip to Brentwood today. Hardwood offcuts. Picked up some American cherry, olive ash and some very nice quartered oak. Worth a visit, Tim is a good guy. He tells me that he probably won't be open for too much longer so don't hang about!

    L.E.D batten... using the output

Can I use the output connection from an LED batten to power a 'conventional' (low voltage) bulbed light? Im guessing yes as I imagine the output bypasses any stepping down inside the batten? its a minor thing but it would make connecting up an outside light easier if I can just come out of the...

    Tools, a life history!

I've been making tool storage. Nothing that fancy, just a shelving tool wall really. Mostly finished today. When I stood looking at it I realised that most tools had a tale to tell or at least marked an era. So... Stanley smoothing plane purchased with pocket money from an old time hardware...

    Wickes ply is beech faced

Hi everyone I was needing a bit of casual plywood today so popped into Wickes. Trade discount at the ready. Their "hardwood" ply is beech faced at the moment and I thought that's not all that common (makes a change from gaboon) so if you need that... Seems decent enough.

    Tool storage (french cleats?)

Im soon going to be embarking upon yet another tool cupboard/rack/wall. I've seen a lot of stuff on french cleats which to be honest I don't see the big deal with, yes they are flexible/future proofing but I'm not sure about having to make so many bits and pieces, often for each tool. I have...

    Make your own extraction trunking?

I am thinking about making my own trunking from thin MDF (say). Making square/rectangular section box trunking that I can build up around and along corners on walls and ceiling in my workshop. Mainly because I think it will be neater, easier to install and will be a fair bit cheaper. I know that...
