quality of redwood pine degrading + price increasing.

What I find annoying is that It is harder to find outlets with good sawn redwood. A few years ago any timber yard/builders kept at least two good grades of it.

    Decent pine (redwood) faced ply?

Was wanting redwood facing. It is available I have found but not seen it in the flesh. It would be for panels in pine chest of drawer sides so would need to be the same as solid redwood pine. Cheers

    Sandpaper distressed wood finish

Something tells me that this new member who has asked a simple question, will be looking for a different forum. It's a shame when the "pack" mentality kicks in. Happens too often now IMO.

    Decent pine (redwood) faced ply?

Afternoon all, Its all in the title really. Does anyone know of a source for this? I mean pine as in redwood as opposed to spruce type stuff. If it exists even? Cheers

Badly painted kitchen and F&B paint?

The old saying... "if you can p!$$ you can paint" is completely untrue. I used F&B on my kitchen really because of the good colour range. It's a nice rich colour but I found that it didn't flow as I would have liked.

    Staircase spindle movement

Go back and dress it up along the lines of.... "after doing a few like this we have developed a modification to prevent the movement". Now design in a way of widening that string, shouldn't be too difficult and it would probably look better as well. I recon a couple of heavy people running down...

    How much?

OK so they don't want to go ahead with it. Im not that fussed, I would rather spend time doing something that people were happy about. The guy of the couple is an ex builder, known to be close to being a millionaire, top of the line Mercedes lovely house etc. Often the case!

    How much?

I don't know the people it would be for, apart from a brief meeting via family, they are not friends in any way. I don't work at this full time, I am an ex joiner so do stuff as and when, so therefore I dont really have hourly/daily rates. I do consider this work to be pretty high level though...

    How much?

So keeping this as brief as possible... A picture frame 500x400mm made with 90x20 quarter sawn oak. Biscuit jointed mitres. Plain apart from a chamfer on both edges. On the frame hand carved lettering 70mm high, 18 characters. Includes card bevel cut mount, glass, backing board, fittings etc...

Like a drumstick... the right hand in case you use a traditional grip.

    Sealant / Primer for OSB

So long as the osb is 'cold' ie if there is insulation underneath it there should not be an opportunity for condensation to form between the boards and the PC.

    Sealant / Primer for OSB

I guess any exterior paint of you colour choice then.... even fence preservative? Condensation between the sheets and the board may be an issue to manage though.

    Sealant / Primer for OSB

What purpose will the painting serve? If its properly clad why paint it?

    Sealant / Primer for OSB

Painting osb inside a workshop... any old emulsion will do just fine. No need to prime, give it two coats. I did that with mine and its lovely.
