    The weather

Up until last year when I completed my shed I used a pop up gazebo from here Buy Garden Marquees, Party Tent, Commercial Marquee Tents. I have the Pro 40 3m x 3m. I have had it for over 5 years it had been out most of that time through the winter weather. The frame is still in excellent...

Saw comparison, bosch 8sjl vs bosch 800 sj

Just recently bought one from Axminster after a lot of indecision. Accurate out of the box. Initially thought dust collection was better but now not so sure. Nice finish cuts. Big lump in a small workshop despite the forward rails. Smooth action and happy in the main with my purchase.

Wood Filler Stain - Birch Ply

I don't think the filler takes stain well if at all. The area looks like a sanded area of filler sanded down but still impregnating the ply surface.

    Steve's workbench build

Neil, I did my housings by hand and used a hand router, but your plan should be fine. You could at least be able to do around the sides easily enough, chop out the bulk of the middle with the chisel and just use the router to tidy it up. Though I only tend to go 10mm at a time if its a full cut...

    Steve's workbench build

I'm about to start on the aprons for my PS style workbench. I would prefer to use a router to cut the leg housing on the apron. Thinking aloud I will screw battens to the inside face allowing for the distance from the cutter edge to the edge of the router base. The legs are 70mm wide will the...

Is this a saw setter? Anyone advise. Thanks

OK thanks for that my wife found it at the bottom of her old horsey bits trunk, odd how she came to have that she had no idea what it was. On further inspection it actually states no 77 made in England on the inside of the handle

Build in Child's Bed with Drawers

Time pressure mmm. Currently recovering from eye surgery for detached retina and advised family that I was not comfortable using spinning sharp blades with a lack of perspective due to only one eye working properly. After posting I get a message that it is now a priority. So the pleasant in...

Build in Child's Bed with Drawers

Hi All, I have agreed to build a bed for my 4 1/2 year old grand daughter. My son's family have just moved into a house with a small third bedroom. The bedroom is also compromised by a boxed in area above the stairs. To try and make the most of the space I was asked to build a bed to...

Advice Required : Pergola is it strong enough

So will notching the beams running at 90° to the main cross beams provide enough bracing to minimise lateral movement? Regards Neil
