    Trying to join a forum

I have been trying to join the Birmingham History Forum. I am clearly now a member, but I can't post anything until I receive a confirmation email from the site. I have been trying now for two weeks; but nothing. I know these things can take a few days sometimes, but this is ridiculous. I can't...

    Plug cutters

Has anyone used the Veritas plug cutters? Are they any use, as they don't look very functional? They don't look any more promising than the cheapo sets once available at Do It All! TIA John

First job on my return to my Wood-Retreat

At last I am feeling more like some bench work. Initially, a project for myself I thought; and I do need a tool chest. My old faithful is straining at the screwed and nailed seams and some of my tools are lying on shelves around the shop. It's a blessing I don't get rust problems. I wondered...

    Plasterboard work in window reveal

Hi folks. I just ordered some vertical blinds for my lounge and kitchen. The rep came to measure up yesterday, and we discovered that one window reveal in the single story extension, needs new plasterboard fitted along the top of the reveal. The extension had already been built when I...

Making small tables and such, to sell?

Hi folks; It seems there might be a ready market for pine, farmhouse style furniture; especially of the 'chunky' style. Unless I've missed the boat again! 🤨 Also, I have a set of ready-turned legs I got before I was ill, and now a friend is coveting those legs made into a 1.5 metre coffee...

How do I quote another member's post?

I have tried to quote another forumite's post on a few occasions now, but when I press the quote button I am not presented with a chance to add text, with the post quoted, visible in the thread! Is a puzzlement, as Yul Bryner would have said. :dunno: John

Pestered by Norton Anti Virus sharks

Can anyone advise how to stop Norton sending me five or six reminders every day, to renew a nonexistent Norton account. Marking them as SPAM has no effect, and there's no link to cancel, or to reply to ask them to desist. I am heartily sick of it and fear I might accidentally press something...

    Good News Re Worktop Express

Last year in June I ordered a beech worktop from Worktop Express. Before delivery took place I was admitted to the Krankenhaus, with a skin infection. I was admitted for as long as it would take; which was four months, including rehab, and I contacted the firm whilst incarcerated. (That's what...

Scam email purporting to be from the TV Licensinng Body.

Hi Folks, I had an email yesterday telling me that the TV Licensing Body had been unable to take payment from my bank. As I have never paid for a TV licence by Direct Debit, it was simple enough to work out this was a scam. I am well over 75 years anyhow, and don't pay a licence ; For the time...

Any Philatelists on the forum please?

Hi folks, I recently unearthed my stamp collection from about 20 years ago. I thought I had disposed of it! There isn't much of worth in there, but I am interested in George V stamps from Kenya, Uganda and Tanganyika. I also like the George V stamps from GB. Mainly I need a good forum, and a...

About the Kenwood Chef food processor.

I bought my wife a Kenwood Chef years ago. It has long since been binned, as the drive gears went kaput. I am left with a number of sound attachments, which I can no longer use. Does anyone know if they would fit a modern Kenwood Chef? TIA John (hammer)

Still in Rehab, but closer to discharge home.

Hi folks, I am a lot closer to getting back home, and I mentioned my desire to work in my shop to the physios here in Rehab. They were a little dubious, but when I said I could do most jobs from the right kind of seat, they gave way a little. I was thinking of a good heavy duty, swivelling...

Reinstating my Coronet Major - Maroon model

Hi folks. I bought my Coronet in 1971 as a combination woodwork machine. I have to be honest and say that, whilst Grandfather showed me the basics when I was a teen, I don't consider myself a turner. The most ambitious project I ever did was a pair of Indian Clubs for a Physical Trainer...
