Post a photo of the last thing you made

Fairly quick spice rack made of oak. Was slightly out of square though which was annoying. Should of put a back on it which would of helped I think, but it’s not that obvious now it’s up.

Finally finished this small garden bench, started it a good few months ago! Made of oak. 1st time doing draw bore mortise and tenons, and made the dowels with a dowel plate. Some sloppy joinery that I wasn’t happy overall with, but the pegs seemed to help stiffen it up, so we’ll just have to see...

    Pergola season

Just realised I’d forgotten to post this pergola after I got it finished around spring this year. Also made the large planter in the back ground, and the giant bed at the front. The shed base is also down but putting it off until probably next year, hopefully prices of things will be a bit cheaper!

Thanks. I used hard maple and then cherry and black walnut for the strips and wedges.

Made this small step stool for my daughter. There’s a few gaps and it’s not perfect but I’m still practicing.

    Pergola season

We’re putting in a chunky raised bed as well so hopefully it won’t be too out of place. I will slim down the braces though. What do you think about the length of the cross beams though, should they be ok?

    Pergola season

Hello everyone. In the spirit of the lock down summer we've started doing the garden up, I've laid my first patio, and I'm now going to have a go at a pergola as well and just wanted some advice please. Bear with me though please, as this is a first for me. The posts and braces will be 150 x...

    A couple of picture frames

Yes it took me a while to get the mitres perfect and square, you really do have to get the lengths matching perfectly. Also struggled to hand cut the slots for the splines so they are well gappy. Think a router table would be very helpful, will try and sneak one in the garage :D I’ll have to...

    A couple of picture frames

I very delicately tapped them in and trimmed off the excess. I figured it’s not structural or anything so didn’t need to be tapped in far.

    A couple of picture frames

Hello all. Thought I'd share 2 more picture frames I've finished, one this week, and the other a while ago now. Both made from oak, the first is mortice and tenoned with some black walnut wedges. I made one like this before but without the wedges, and used the perspex and backing from the...

    Snapped a bandsaw blade

It's good to know about releasing the tension when not in use. Could it be bad at all for the blade or even the neck of the machine to be on and off with the tension though, would it stress the blade or the machine by being constantly on and off? For me I don't get in the garage enough for it...

    Snapped a bandsaw blade

It definitely made me jump when it went haha! Thanks for everyone's advice, I did leave it a while before opening the door because I could hear the wheel slowing down, it had almost stopped, and the blade guides were close to the wood when cutting. So chances are I hadn't done much wrong then...

    Snapped a bandsaw blade

Hi there, I'm after a bit of advice please. I was using an axcaliber 1/4 inch 10tpi blade on my bandsaw today to cut out some easter bunny shapes with the young lad in the house (yes we're stuck inside), and after the very last cut, and after turning the bandsaw off, I turned around and heard a...

Cutting boards without table saw, planer etc

You can but it takes a lot longer. I’ve made 2 now with hand tools (I would like to get a thicknesser!) Good practise with the hand plane mind. Made some coasters the same way pretty much as well
