Linseed putty to fill small defects on joinery - how long to dry?

I used two pack in the past - that's why the crack is there in the first place. Rookie error. The panel is now free from two part and i'm going to use linssed putty which has some give it it to repair the cracked panel as best i can.

Tiling onto a Victorian Solid (ish) floor in a bathroom

Digging up some tiles in a victorian terrance at the back of the house. The floor is solid and when i took up the existing tiles, the floor looks like it's been levelled with sharp sand etc. The tiles were laid about 10 years ago. They are not victorian. Is this normal? Shall I just remove the...

    Re-sharpen or buy new

I got some blades sharpened recently and was shocked at how much it cost. Probably 2/3 of the cost of new, but i am in that funny London place. I'd be surprised if the prices you were quoted is still valid.

What do you filter your paint with and into?

Help with a built in wardrobe.

Hi all, I've been looking at designs for built in wardrobes and came across this on instagram. I liked it so much that I actually asked the maker for a quote, but alas it is well above my budget! I'm happy making the doors and have done basic face frame cabinets (..along with lots of peter...

Bloody 'eck it smells horrible this stuff. Having my first go at it this morning. Primed quickly with a thin coat of linseed oil and have started with a slightly dilute coat with balsam turps. Anvil Prices - What's Happened?

Same with everything at the moment. It's lockdown and people having more hobby time. The price of everything, second hands bikes, gym equipment, old hand tools, has reached fever pitch. Facebook market place is full of lunatics putting old rusty stanley planes on there for £50-60. Rubbish -...

We are just going to use shiplap in the end from a local timber merchant. Too many variables and it's a very small job. Cheers for the replies.

    Linseed Paint - sorry...

Super. Thanks Jacob. I suppose you have to be very careful not getting too much paint in joints, grooves, mouldings as it would never dry? This is traditionally the place i make a mess with gloss paints, so I will have to be careful!

    Linseed Paint - sorry...

When painting outdoors (won't be doing until summer) do you have to guarentee a dry 72 hours or will it take rain after a few hours?

    Linseed Paint - sorry...

Just the man i was seeking a response from actually Jacob. Maybe it wasn't on this forum - i just remember people getting quite annoyed with various types of linseed oil, some using turps, some blaming poor finishes on white spirit etc etc. Maybe I imagined it.

    Linseed Paint - sorry...

I know the subject of linseed oil paint has got us a little hot under the collar over the years. I am about to try some on a set of doors to be fitted to a workshop in a garden - and spoke to my grandfather who was a joiner back when things were done propah. He was interested to hear about a...
