    Flush hinges for box?

I'm messing about with 44x12mm pine and making a few boxes. I've got to the point where I'm figuring out how to fit the hinges and want to have a go at both butt and flush hinges. I think I've got the right size butt hinges but I've no idea what size flush hinges I'd need to properly fit 12mm...

Noob question on router bits for finger joint jig

Someone gave me a jig for making finger joints. It's made from pine and looks like the pic attached. The gap between the fingers is 12mm. Is there a router bit (flush trim??) that will fit into that gap and fit into a trim router? I've looked and they all seem to be 12.7 mm or larger. Thanks.

    Moxon vice cost?

I'm looking to install a moxon vice into my bench and have started looking around at hardware. Don't want to/can't spend too much so been looking around and found the wdscomponents one for around £65. I'm wondering if I could buy the components for less - don't even know where to look for...

    PVA as undercoat for larch?

Making some kitchen shelves from larch cladding. Mrs wants them painted black so I'm thinking of using the Screwfix no nonsense black gloss. I haven't got any undercoat but I have some PVA and wondered if that could be used as an undercoat? Any advice gratefully received.

Where to get 190x24 saw blade?

Hi, Cleaning out the garage this week and found an old circular saw I'd bought from b&q years ago. Still seems to work ok but the blade is knacked. Blade size is 190 X 24 bore. I've searched online but can't find anywhere selling that size. Anyone know if that size is still for sale in UK? Thanks

Can't seem to find pressure treated CLS.

I'm looking to make some garden chairs. Wanted to use pressure treated CLS but just can't find any locally. So, wondering if anyone else has used untreated CLS for outdoor projects and, if so, how it lasted and what they did to protect it? Cheer.

    Best protection for steel firebowl?

Just bought a new firepit thingy and want to look after it a bit better than the last one. So, I'm thinking rust protection of some kind (is hammerite ok for this?) and lining the bowl with fire concrete. Does that sound like a reasonable way to proceed? Cheers.

    Replacement firepit bowl?

Hey, We bought a firepit kind of thing (metal circular frame with ceramic tiles around the outside) a few years ago. It had a circular firebowl. Through my own neglect the bowl has rusted through. I've been looking for a replacement bowl for a while but can't find one anywhere. Just recently...

    Loose tenons for workbench

I'm thinking about building another workbench, mainly to practice loose tenon work - I've never used them before. In fact I've never done any 'real' joinery at all. All my previous stuff has been glue and screw stuff. I was thinking of using some of the 38 x 89 CLS stuff from wickes or...

    Kitchen bench with storage

Hi, I've just built a bench for our kitchen using CLS 38x89 for the frame and 18mm MDF for the cladding. I'm happy enough with the way it's turned out but feel that the technique I used to build the frame is a bit 'agricultural'. I'm not experienced in building stuff like this so wondered if...

    Ryobi Airstrike Nailer problems?

Hi, I'm just about to return my second Ryobi nailer in the last six months. Both tools have had very light use but both developed the same problem - They don't fire nails ... that's to say the machine seems to whirr and get ready to fire but doesn't actually fire the things. Both machines...

    Blum71B3550 hinges

Hi, Just about to buy some of the above hinges for a wardrobe build but noticed they don't come with the necessary screws. The docs for the hinges say 3.5mm and 4mm wood screws are needed but it doesn't specify the length. Anyone point me to the necessary screws? Thanks in advance.

Hi, The missus has tasked me to build a double wardrobe (1100w x 600d x 2150h) and a single wardrobe (500w x 600d x 2150h) approx. I've built workbenches and cabinets for the garage before but this will be the biggest build so for for me so just wanted to check out some stuff: Going to use...

Just bought a Titan plunge saw

Hi, Very new to this and just getting into making things. Bought a Titan plunge saw and started using it yesterday to cut sheets of mdf. First thing I noticed is that the tracks aren't as 'sticky' as I thought they would be. I though the black strips on the bottom of the tracks would make the...

Hi, Just about to start out in woodworking and, firstly I'm looking to buy a circular saw to rip some sheets of plywood and mdf. I've budgeted around £100 quid or so for a circular saw. Looking for some advice on building this kennel and run ...

Hi there, I've recently retired and decided to take up some woodworking projects to utilise my time. I've decided to build a dog kennel and run, something like the attached picture. The actual one I want to build is a 4ft x 4ft kennel area with a 6ftx 4ft run area. So, 10ftx4ft in total. I...
