    Sentimental Chopping Board

I'm sure your dad would will be looking down with a tear in his eye. I bet he never imagined in his wildest dreams that his daughter would enjoy working with timber. Let alone fix one of his old projects. He'll be seriously proud of you.

May I be so bold as to suggest you contact this lovely lady and ask if she'd like to go? Just for the record I do not know the woman nor I'm I affiliated in anyway. I just think she seems to be a great person with a great love of animals and an excellent blog...

    Bi-fold cupboard doors

Looks to build an inset cupboard for our TV. I'm tight on space and think bifold doors would be best. Looking at 4 doors each measuring 1472mm x 252mm I'm aware the door will twist somewhat so I'm looking for a system to keep them straight. Looking at 12mm MDF with 6mm planted on rails and...

    Exterior Door Advice please

Could you not use Medite Tricoya maybe made up of three laminations x2 12mm for face and back and 18mm core? Then route a V groove for your panels and paint... Oh wait you want a timber look?

    Exterior Door Advice please

Any decent offcuts always get "MT" across them in pencil. Failing that it smells of vinegar.

    Exterior Door Advice please

May I suggest that you don't use ply. If I were you I'd be buying marine ply to do the job which will be a small fortune. Spend a few quid more and get some Medite Tricoya. I'm currently making up a paneled exterior door surround and have finished to large molded bay window tops and used...

    reclaimed mahogany entrance hall bench

Nice work. I love seeing easy method of carrying out a potentially troublesome job. I've banked that one for future use. I'll use mitre mate though. Quicker than a hot glue gun :-)

    Period wooden panel mouldings

Does anyone know of a supplier in the North east (I'm in durham) that does decent off the shelf mouldings. I'm hoping for a recessed bolection moulding to fit 1/2" panelling or failing that some 'period' looking 12mm high moulding. Looking for around 10 metres. Can't find anything locally...

Steve's workshop - Painting the outside walls

May I be so bold as to suggest you order a new one. http://www.ebuyer.com/495408-cherry-bla ... 000lungb-2 Less than the cost of a sheet of plasterboard. PS, If I was nearby I would happily lend a hand to get the plasterboard up there.

    aquamac 21 door seal

Good thinking! I'm always amazed at how simple things are when you have the knowledge. Maybe one day my common sense will prevail without the need for knowledge but I doubt it.

    aquamac 21 door seal

Anyone? Not sure it it actually matters but I'd like to get it right before I ruin £130 worth of timber. http://www.axminster.co.uk/aquamac-21-door-seal Can it be any distance from the rebate?

    aquamac 21 door seal

Just about to recieve an axminster aquamac 21 router bit. I'm intending to cut into the side of the frame. Is 3-4mm from the rebate fine?

Best method for fixing posts into concrete?

Same as this method as above but I coat bitumen up the sides of the post up to around six inches above the post that will be protruding from the ground. DO NOT paint the bottom edge of the post (the grainy end). The coating around the sides prevents water soaking in through the sides of the...

    External timber

Thanks for the heads-up on the pricing chaps. Phoned lawsons timber at gateshead and was surprised to find 18mm at £99 a sheet and 12mm at £75. Phoned my local robbing timber merchant to ask if there had been a mixup as £171 seemed extreme pricing for 18mm and informed them of the price I'd got...
