Startrite 301, Kity 613 or other?

I can’t comment on the Startrite as I haven’t ever used one. I do though own a Kity 613 and have been very pleased with it. The saw was made in the 1980s and was secondhand when I got it. All of the component parts are in reasonable repair and I haven’t had to do much to it other than get some...

Kity 613 Bandsaw Upper Guide Help

I came to the Kity after using a small Record bandsaw and was initially concerned that the cool blocks were out of date and would be ineffective. My concerns proved unfounded and I think they have some advantages over metal guides. I also bought a DVD from Steve Maskery in which he shows what...

Kity 613 Bandsaw Upper Guide Help

James, apologies for the confusion. What I should have said was that the rear guide on mine is the same as that shown in the Probois photo. Ian

Kity 613 Bandsaw Upper Guide Help

    gloves

My son who works on plant and machinery gave me a box of Jefferson Gecko Grip gloves, nitrile and powder free. Good grip, tough and don’t rip easily. Best disposable gloves I have used so far. He got them at a motor factors, but they are available on eBay.

    Finish Advice

Thanks for the reply. I had assumed that it was wise to apply some sort of finish to the wood to protect it, but from what you say clearly not. Thanks for the answer.

    Finish Advice

Hi, I am after advice on the a suitable finish to use on 3 large redwood lintels in a newly finished extension. I don’t want to paint or varnish the lintels, but want to keep them looking as natural as possible. I have read on the Forum about using Osmo oil, but have never done so myself so have...
