The Grille over the motor fan is there to stop you putting you hand in while the fan is still rotating which it does for a while after turning the power off. I does run down very quietly and it easy to forget when doing a maintenance job on it.
Cutting it out does solve the problem of large...

One suggestion I've had so for is
"believe that the handle with the hook looks like a Boot puller used in pairs to pull on tight fitting leather riding boots when we wore such things- Just a thought"
