    White paint for Jet tools

Thanks for all the help, leaving this here for anyone who comes searching in future. On a guess I ordered some ‘Jenolite direct to rust satin Ivory white’ and that turns out to be quite close enough for me. The image is a test I did on the inside of the back cover. You can see the new paint...

    White paint for Jet tools

That’s a good point. I’m not aiming for a historic restoration, just to prevent the problem reoccurring in my rather damp workshop. The original paint has probably changed colour with age anyway.

    White paint for Jet tools

From what I can see online the official paints were very expensive and I didn’t come across anyone selling it in the UK now. I will have another look though, I have gone down a rabbit hole of trying to find an off brand alternative and neglected the official option a bit.

    White paint for Jet tools

Thanks, I thought that was going to be it but they don’t list Jet. I’ve emailed them to ask if any of those colours would work, there are a couple that look pretty similar.

    White paint for Jet tools

Hi All, I’ve just acquired a Jet planer that could use a little TLC and I’m trying to find a paint that I can use to touch up some damaged areas. I’ve seen recommendations for a couple of Rustoleum colours (canvas white and biscuit) but I can’t find either on sale anywhere. Does anyone know of...

The numptiest of outdoor project questions..

Thanks Rob. You've just made me realise my profile is out of date - I'm a little way north of Bristol now, but there are plenty of fencing suppliers so the tip's still useful.

The numptiest of outdoor project questions..

Hi, I've got a few outdoor projects I would like to build, the most pressing of which is some field-style gates. I have enough wood work experience to be able to do this, but probably not enough to get it right ;) I'll be content if I have to re-make this in a few years as long as I learn...

    Excellent, thanks. Glad I asked.

    Restoration of outdoor teak bench

Thanks. Yeah, it can be fully disassembled, it's made with loose pegged mortice and tenons. I imagine it was a generic/mass produced bit of garden furniture at the time but it's one of those things that's been in the family long enough to acquire a value of its own. I wasn't expecting it to...

    Restoration of outdoor teak bench

Hi, I have an outdoor bench made of teak which I've allowed to get a little bit neglected. The original (teak oil) finish is long since knackered and the wood has become quite dried out and split in a few places. I'd like to restore this piece and I'm wondering about the best approach. From a...

    Advice on size of wood

Hi, I'm planning to make some swings for the kids, but I'm having trouble deciding what dimension wood I should use to ensure that they're strong enough - and obviously whatever I settle on has to be available from a yard where I can get hold of it, and available in lengths long enough to make...
