    Buying a used Paslode

By the way, just to be clear we have electricity. We just generate it ourselves without any input - or bills - from the mains suppliers.

    Buying a used Paslode

Hmm, sounds like the Paslode might be a bit temperamental. Any other brand and model recommended as a used buy for around £200?

    Buying a used Paslode

I don't, unfortunately. We're offgrid (solar pv) so an electric compressor isn't viable. Plus it's yet another bit of kit to buy.

    Buying a used Paslode

No prob, hopefully this will be visible. Rammed tyre foundations as of today, following a visit from Building Control. Floor timber box beam next.

    Buying a used Paslode

We're about to enter the carpentry phase (timber box beams, roofing etc) of a self-build strawbale house and I plan to buy a used Paslode first fix nail gun, probably an Impulse IM350/90CT (reasonably plentiful older model and affordable at around £200ish). I need to use ring shank nails in most...

    Postcrete quantities?

Afternoon all I have one post (110mm diameter) to set in a hole 300x300x750 deep. I'd like to use Postcrete for ease and quick setting. Two questions: 1. will a couple of bags be enough? 2. can I mix the whole lot in the hole in one go? Thanks.

    Kreg Pocket hole jigs

Understood, AES! No need to apologise. Yes, I use standard screws (the countersink type) with no washer. Works perfectly fine, even in the 12mm ply I used to build my Paulk workbench.

    Kreg Pocket hole jigs

AES, I absolutely understand your cynicism to the apparent money-spinning nature of the Kreg PH jig - special and expensive screws, plugs, clamps etc. But I have made countless pocket holes with nothing other than a Kreg mini jig, which came with the bit and cost £17. As I said before, I only...

    Kreg Pocket hole jigs

I love pocket holes. So damn easy and efficient. I use the Kreg single hole jig, which is portable and quick. Stick it in your pocket and use it with a speed clamp anywhere in or out the workshop. No need for the fancy Kreg screws, I use standard screws and an appropriate clutch setting on my...

Need guidance to build workshop double doors

Thanks Siggy, I'll read that in detail (and probably come back with some questions).

    Do I need a Band-saw and a Table-saw?

For guitar building, take a look at the Crimson Guitars Youtube channel, specifically the review on Saburr Tooth sanding discs. They make exquisite curves and flares on guitar bodies. You will want one. (It's top of my shopping list).

Need insert for Performance Power CLM1500tss table saw

Long shot...I inherited the saw from my departed uncle. It performs quite well, and has a (nearly) zero clearance table insert (presumably custom made by Unc). However, because of that I can't do 45deg bevel rip cuts. There isn't the space to add a second saw slot, and I don't have the...

Need guidance to build workshop double doors

Have I asked the wrong question? Just hoping for some input from someone with knowledge and experience of fitting double doors on a workshop (ie not a house)...

Need guidance to build workshop double doors

Afternoon all Last big job on my timber framed workshop build is to add double external doors. My ability is greater than my knowledge, so I'd really appreciate having my hand held through the process please - hope someone can help. I'm going for outward swinging doors built from 150x45...

    Old Rexon bandsaw worth saving?

Great answers chaps, many thanks. Will give the bandsaw a go.

    Old Rexon bandsaw worth saving?

I've inherited a 1996 Rexon BS-10 bandsaw from an old departed uncle. Although it was sitting for years in his leaky old shed, it's in reasonable physical condition and the motor runs smoothly enough. The blade won't stay on the wheels, though, and I don't yet know enough about bandsaws to set...

    Anyone built a Paulk workbench?

Thought I'd give a quick update and thoughts on my Paulk workbench build, which is now complete. Really enjoyed the process, and the almost architectural aesthetic gives it great presence and is very pleasing. It's hugely useable, easy to set up, and the leg assembly is very forgiving on...

    Anyone built a Paulk workbench?

I don't think that would work Rick. The holes are there to put wee f-clamps through and clamp work to the surface.

    Anyone built a Paulk workbench?

Thanks for the replies gents, very useful. I can see the likelihood of dust gathering on the shelf beneath the work surface, so I may create a couple of slots to aid brushing out. Looking forward to the build.
