Can anyone tell me how to break /splinter a 4 inch square, 3 foot long wooden block in order to make a resin lamp. I think one option is to drill at the desired splinter point to weaken it before hitting it wih a sledg hammer. Grateful for thoughts

Thanks for you help. It does confuse me that bowls would be limited to 3 inches by the mills. I would have thought that demand would have made this more usual but I guess that is no the case

Sean. That’s an interesting point. Can you fit any manufactured blade ( subject to right sizes etc) or does it need to be Luna blades?

I have just inherited an ol Luna W59 which looks a fantastic piece of kit in need of a lot of TLC and Evapo-rust to bring it back to it former glory. Interested to hook up with other owners for advice as I strip it and put it back together again.

I am looking to get a spot light over my assembly table which hangs from the ceiling and is articulated so I can move the beam to specific areas and it will stay in place. Any thoughts?

Yes, tried that as ell but I want to turn the finished cylinder after boring and trying to get the two holes accurate is a nightmare. Interesting augers though and will look at these but they do tend to stray whilst drilling due to heat I think

Yes, I had thought of that and it is an option however I ideally want to keep the cylinder intact both for stability and look

Advice, please. I am trying to find the best way of boring a 27mm dia hole though a 350 on a piece of hardwood. I have tried various methods on both the lathe and drill press but I suffer from burn out and trying to find long enough drills / forstner bits. Grateful for any help. Mark
