    Startrite 275 universal joint

Thanks and best of luck with your workshop. I used the 275 to build a workshop of my own. I used it to make T&G larch cladding and had enough left over to do a T&G floor inside also. So I've been very happy with mine. I've never done any woodwork really apart from that but I'm thinking of making...

    Startrite 275 universal joint

I'm sorry I can't help you out. I only posted to ask if you wouldn't mind letting us know how you get on. I also own a 275 and may be faced with the same situation at some point.

Startrite 275 Table Saw Conversion: 3 phase - Single Phase

One more query folks. The blade looks to be in pretty good shape but I tried opening the spindle nut that holds it in place and it seems fairly stuck. Were these reverse thread or regular?

Startrite 275 Table Saw Conversion: 3 phase - Single Phase

Hi Kinsella, It was your thread and video that brought me to this site in the first place. So thanks for that. I've read your account about 20 or 30 times now so I almost know it off by heart. :) Tom, thanks for all your help. You've been great. I've operated a table saw before so I do know...

Startrite 275 Table Saw Conversion: 3 phase - Single Phase

Well I don't know if I fixed it but it's working fine now. :D The only thing I did was to switch the order of the terminals R and T. I initially had Neutral to R and Live to T and I switched these around.

Startrite 275 Table Saw Conversion: 3 phase - Single Phase

So the inverter arrived yesterday. It's a genuine Huan Yang HY02D223B. I set it up today and I think I got a faulty one. Major pain. I have it connected to single phase 220V power supply and nothing else. Terminals R and T and Earth. When I powered it on and hit Run it ramped up to 400Hz which...

Startrite 275 Table Saw Conversion: 3 phase - Single Phase

Well I picked the saw up over the weekend. It looks to be in fairly good shape but I need to give it a clean and lube. Nice heavy cast iron top. Bit of rust on the metal panelling down near the feet but it's not very deep and will sand off fairly easily and a bit of rust protector should see it...

Thanks once again Tom. Should have given the manual a bit more reading

Startrite 275 Table Saw Conversion: 3 phase - Single Phase

Can someone explain how the stop start (NC, NO) buttons should be wired up to the inverter. I can't figure it out. In the Invertek inverter there are two wires connected to terminals 1 and 2. I think the HY inverter is similar. I can understand how a simple on/off switch would make and break...

Startrite 275 Table Saw Conversion: 3 phase - Single Phase

The smaller things I can pick up locally. The main things I haven't worked out yet is the wiring of the switches to the inverter. I have downloaded the manual but haven't worked out the detail yet. Also want to be sure using an extension cable with the MCB and fuse arrangement as above is...

Startrite 275 Table Saw Conversion: 3 phase - Single Phase

So this is my planned setup. Would welcome any comments on it I have no power to my shed yet so am wondering if I can run this off an extension lead. The sequence would be 20amp MCB in main house fuse board serving socket circuits. 230V supply 15m of extension cable (2 core + earth - can...

Startrite 275 Table Saw Conversion: 3 phase - Single Phase

Thanks Bob. Tom has practically convinced me to give this a go with his clear explanations. Can I ask you Bob to comment on Option 2 in your guide where you use capacitors to generate a 240V 3 phase. That is without using the step up converter. It seems to not be preferred but I'm not sure...

Startrite 275 Table Saw Conversion: 3 phase - Single Phase

Thanks very much Tom. I think it will take me a while to digest all this. I have read through Bob Minchin's guide also. A question on terminology. Bob Minchin talks about an inverter and you talk about a VFD. After looking these up it seems you are talking about the exact same thing, which is...

Startrite 275 Table Saw Conversion: 3 phase - Single Phase

Please post as much as you can Tom. I'm no electrician. The most I have done is extend a lighting circuit and a socket circuit. I haven't even seen the saw in the flesh yet and to be honest I hope the electrician who is looking at it at the moment manages to sort it out.

Startrite 275 Table Saw Conversion: 3 phase - Single Phase

By this line do you mean that This is what you do after you have switched out the 3 phase motor for a single phase. I understand in principle the other options of getting the 3 phase motor to work from single phase using an inverter or converter as detailed in the other threads. Thanks

Startrite 275 Table Saw Conversion: 3 phase - Single Phase

Hello all, First post. I may be getting my hands on a Startrite 275 Table Saw from a generous benefactor. It currently has a dual voltage 3 phase motor (240v Delta, 415V Star). An electrician is looking it over to see if it can be converted to work off single phase 240v. I have read some of...
