    Thanks for your comments. I did give the screw another WD40/blow torch cycle and this proved successful so I have not only fully stripped the vice but completed its cleaning and re-assemble. Photos attached.

    Many thanks for the suggestion, it is appreciated. As I am starting from scratch I think the Fusion 360 is the one I will try; FreeCad is my second option. Ollie, you mentioned it is free to use, is this with a student licence? Regards, Karl

    Glueing magnets

    I used epoxy resin, the 24 Hr stuff. Just make sure it has gone off before using the doors else the magnets will move/ pull out!
