    How do you identify wood?

Good place to start right now is just to go on Facebook and go to ‘wood identification group’. A few really good experts there.

    New Surface planer problems

I’d suggest it’s most likely your technique. I had similar issues and realised I wasn’t quite doing it right! Watch Matt estlea’s video on YouTube. That helped me out. And it also goes without ur saying, make sure your set up is as spot on as you can get it. blade height etc etc etc

    My first router table

I will be routing out a recess for the router base to sit in below the surface of the table. Might take 5-6mm off my cut depth but I am ok with that.

    Rutlands router table

cheers for the honest review - I like the dust extraction feature on it as I will have to sort something out myself for my home made job, but the NVR switch isn't big enough for my router (unfortunately). Will just have to make some featherboards myself as well...

Converting Garage to Workshop & Introduction

I bonded my (very) rough concrete floor with pva then used screed to level it out a bit. It's not perfect as it was in such a bad state before hand but it certainly is now feet friendly. I put carpet over the main work areas but something nice and soft like a rubber mat ot the dedicated...

    Decent try square

Sorry to take the post back to the original subject but... I got the starrett today...£5.57 or something like that on amazon. I tested it against a few kitchen doors to test for accuracy - was about half a mil out over 250mm length. Contacted amazon for a refund...filled out the form bit...

    Rutlands router table

well it does say it retails at £100...(whether that's inflated or not is open to question) - I wasn't expecting much, but was hoping someone with any experience of that table would pipe up. If the NVR was rated higher I would probably just go ahead and take it for £40 but gonna pass for now. I...
