That's what small strips of duct tap are for. ;)

    Wire brush recommendation

Please could someone recommend a make or specific wire brush to fit my Record 8" grinder. Will be used for general cleaning, paint/finish & rust removal. I'm a great believer in 'buy once, cry once' so cost is no big consideration. TIA

Why is this dangerous kit being advertised on here?

Gosforth Handyman actually did a video about table saw safety, including the clip which inspired it, where he was hit quite badly by a piece of plywood which kicked back on him

Why is this dangerous kit being advertised on here?

Chainsaw trousers could actually contribute to an accident with these machines, as the ballistic nylon/kevlar liner is far stronger than say, denim. Thus you've no chance of pulling free. Case in point: We were using a post peeler & the guy I was working with had his shirt sleeve caught by the...

Rounding the top of gate stiles

Thanks for all the help & apologies for the tardy reply (PC took a wobbly & needed a new motherboard. I ended up drawing round a flask cup & a paint tin for the profiles, as they were the right diameter, then hand sawing at angles to reduce the waste followed by hand plane, then belt sander. Now...

Rounding the top of gate stiles

How can I do this cleanly - hanging stiles are 48x110mm & I want to radius the tops to shed water. I have hand saws, table saw & router table. Would a band saw be a good option? (I may be fishing for permission to buy a new tool...) Links to a YT or other video showing how to achieve this...

I just found that out today. He's sold all his remaining stock to Saw & Tooling Services.

Glass in divider over breakfast bar.

I'm making a 4 panel (2x bifold) divider to go between kitchen & living room on top of the breakfast bar, so more than 800mm from the floor Glass would be 320 wide by 1120 high. Do I need to use toughened glass in the panels or is standard 6mm annealed OK?

    Axminster TS250-2 modifications.

40 year old, melamine coated chipboard kitchen cabinet sides - it moved but not by much. Buying a couple of blades is proving difficult, as there's so many of the damn' things available, even if I restrict the two to 24t & 80t - the former for ripping & latter for fine cross-cutting & plywood...

    Axminster TS250-2 modifications.

Hobbyist.;) Spent a couple of hours fine tuning the sliding table, RH extension, truing the blade & rip fence to the T slot & zeroing the rip fence. Last test square came out within 0.02-0.04mm on every dimension using digital calipers & my 150mm square & 64 year old eyes said it was square. Now...

    Axminster TS250-2 modifications.

Definitely going for two new blades - one around 24t for ripping & 60 or 80T for crosscut & plywood. The original blade is about to be tested cutting up three sheets of 25mm MDF. Big mouth dust hood installed today - had to trim 5mm off two top rails on the stand for clearance. Copious amounts...

    Mortising Router Bits

I've just now ordered the Whiteside bit(also for use in the Rutland's table, with a Trend T11 fitted). Alternatives appear to be sadly lacking in the UK. If it does what I want, I'll pick up a couple more.

    Axminster TS250-2 modifications.

I bought a TS250 with the extras in 2017 & it then sat unused in its box for 3 years. Spent the time to read this whole thread & learned much - thanks to all who contributed. Just now starting to fettle it & so far, the only negatives are the rubbish dust extraction, hard to reach switch & not too...

    Cheap wood (mainly soft woods)

Who says what is available at these places is "the poorest of raw materials"? I've bought slow growth timber from demolition contactors for next to nothing which is of far higher quality than the fast grown spruce & other offerings we see today. It's also a sight more stable, having been in situ...

    Bench Grinder (or sharpening system)?

Went the bench grinder route & bought a Record RSBG8. As supplied & after inspection, the wheels need truing & before that, they need some careful shimming with masking tape to make them run perpendicular to the shaft. The 40mm fine wheel's close but the 25mm coarse stone is out a fair bit. I'll...

    Bench Grinder (or sharpening system)?

Any pointers as to which brands are better than others & which to avoid? Most appear to be built down to a price, rather than up to a decent standard.

    Bench Grinder (or sharpening system)?

I've a significant number of chisels, turning tools, gouges & planes (mostly my late father's) which are in need of refurbishment as the primary bevels are all over the place. Added to that, I need something to sharpen mower, strimmer & shredder blades. I'm thinking a bench grinder will do most...

    Social distancing, .. what's that?

Don't try to twist what I said & posting ridiculous whataboutery like the above only serves to highlight you don't have a rational response.
