    ChatGPT - artificial intelligence.

Whilst database technology such as SQL based systems has been around since the early 1980's, database technology has movedon as well. The relational database is still pre-eminent, but other no-sql type databases exist as well as not everything fits into a relational structure, no matter how big...

Need a kitchen high chair repaired- Suggestions?

Thanks for all the information. I do free IT clinics in my village but my spare time is very, very limited, so repair cafes are a step too far. I've spoken to Simon at Dalesbred and dropped the stool off. They are having a look at it. It appears to be glued very strongly for most of the joints...

Need a kitchen high chair repaired- Suggestions?

When I say high chair , a picture would have been useful as it’s not a high chair for a child. Whoops.

Need a kitchen high chair repaired- Suggestions?

Hi. Happy new year to all. I love reading (most) of the threads here but rarely contribute as I’m really not very good with wood 😀 We have two high chairs we brought from John Lewis 20 years ago. They are great and sit next to our kitchen island. One of them has started to creak and we can...

    Browsers

We use Chrome for dev purposes only. I trust Google with my data the same way I trust the Conservatives to be a party of trust, moderation and economic reliability. Firefox is the main browser with an awful lot of extensions to block as much data leakage as possible. Whilst my children have...

    Mortgage rates / interest etc

Having worked and travelled in India, the notion that Indians are lazy is farcical. I count many Indians as friend both here and India and they are very, very hard working. India has many problems, the incredible difference between the very wealthy and the poor, a caste system that still...

Collection of 3d printing files relevant for woodworking

If you use your printer in a garage or somewhere similar, you may need to watch the temperature carefully. The filament needs to be at the right temperature to lay the print down, a garage may be a lot colder and may have droughts cooling the bed. Depending on how cold it is, you may have...

Collection of 3d printing files relevant for woodworking

Some printers have thermal monitoring and protection, the Prusa does. The Ender 3 I have, doesn’t. I watch it carefully 😱

Larger prints might take 80 hours 😀 Most of my prints are 4-5 hours as a minimum and 8-16 hours. I have one job that took 72 hours. I had to ensure that I started with a full roll of filament and watched it through the nights. Worse than kids, at least they go to sleep eventually Rob

For filament printing the Creality range are good value. The Ender 3 range is a good one to start with. There are new higher spec versions but I have an Ender 3 Pro with magnetic mat. Very good value. However I also have a Prusa MKs3+ which is superb but approx 4x the price. Chalk and cheese...

    MTD vat help?

Just checked with the accountant and I was wrong, as is the HMRC guidance. My accountants words are -------------------------- MTD for companies does not come into play until at least 2026. Essentially for MTD a business will submit its information quarterly such that, by its year end, in your...

    MTD vat help?

Thats not how I read the new MTD rules, though I will check with my accountant. We are above the VAT threshhold and submit VAT quarterly , we have always been in MTD and we do not appear to have any new hoops to jump through, e.g. we do not have do additional MTD quarters as well as VAT...

    MTD vat help?

I only invoice four times a month, am a Ltd company, am VAT registered and have a lot of outgoings. It is a business that supports myself and family. I tried to do this using an Excel spreadsheet (I am a 30 year+ developer and programming holds no fear for me), and tried to do it on the cheap...

    Relocation to Lake Tahoe CA

Sean My thoughts exactly. I’ve lived and worked in the UK, Italy, France, Germany, Singapore and the USA (Washington DC). I’ve visited probably another 30 countries backpacking around. Never been to Australia, New Zealand, China or Russia. Suspect I never will visit Russia now. Every country...

    Laser printer recommendations

I’ve had HP’s lasers both colour and black and white, the older ones were built like tanks, weighed much the same and were brilliant. The newer ones as many people have already said, try to tie you in with consumables. The printer model is to sell consumables. I designed an Arabic printer for...
