    McGregor Screwdriver

I have just remembered being shown one of these back in the late '70's, but have never come across another. "Restricted Access" screwdriver, all metal construction, chrome plated, plain cylindrical handle about 5-6" long with a rectangular block at the end, each side of which had a flat blade...

Pearl/hide glue best practice - can I top up the pot?

Using pearl glue again for the first time in over 30 years, and could do with a quick bit of advice please. Is it ok to top up the gluepot with extra (presoaked) glue, or should I dump what is left and start from fresh? Many thanks in anticipation, Rob

    Bouncy castle blowers

Anyone here got a bouncy castle for their children/grandchildren? I'm contemplating buying one of the yellow plastic blowers for another purpose entirely, but first would like to know how noisy they are. Would a 3/8 ply box lined with acoustic foam be enough to silence one, or nearly so?

    Oil gun - grease gun

Looking for a cheap secondhand oilgun - is there actually any difference between the small pump action guns, and if so is there a way of telling them apart?

    Tuffsaws

A word of appeciation for Ian at Tuffsaws. I fully expected them to have closed for the duration, but Ian is keeping the business running as a one man band. My new blades arrived this morning, less than 48 hours after I ordered them. Thank you Ian!

Retro-fit diffusers for strip light fittings

I have been tasked with finding diffusers for 6 x light fitttings in our church hall, as we have been informed that the law has changed and we can no longer use the lights without them. No I/D on the light fittings, which doesn't help my case, and nothing in Screwfix or Toolstation catalogues...

Quick question to Coronet Major owners

New shed arrived yesterday :D so need to start planning the fit-out. All my tools are in a storage container atm , so can't measure mine. How much space do I need to allow between the bed centreline and the wall behind in order to swing the headstock through 90 degrees into 'big bowl'...

    Funeral Flowers

Never had to do it before - how do you go about it? - do you contact a florist local to the crem (+/- via Intaflora) and get them to deliver, or do you buy them from your local florist and take them with you?

Dust protection when using Abranet handpiece.

I am about to help run a little project with volunteers, which will amongst other things have them sanding down paint / varnishwork. I will lend my abranet blocks and hose and there is a 'Henry' on site to hook up to. What would the 'industry standard' be for dust protection , over and above...

    Shortsighted Screwfix !

Needed a replacement velcro platen for my ROS....not in catalogue, phone Screwfix ......no we don't stock them, return for a replacement under guarantee. So instead of a 5 or 6 quid retail sale of a semi-consumable item , they have made a loss, and a perfectly usable 5 month old machine will...

Perforated plastic sheet - any ideas ?

I am sure that I have seen rigid plastic sheet, with approx 1/2" holes on sale somewhere, but my mind is a complete blank as to where. I need to come up with about a dozen pieces, roughly 10" X 15", ideally in black, to use as eves fill to keep the jackdaws from nesting. Any ideas?

Opinions/Ideas please - re. mounting router table on bandsaw

Good/Dumb idea ? I am very short of space, and am considering mounting my router table (or a shop made version) on the back of my bandsaw (old but good Kity) table so as to serve as a table extension for the saw as well as getting the router table out of the way. This would also give me plenty...

    Radnage - Llanelli

Does anyone know if Radnage, the salvage yard in Llanelli, is still there? They don't seem to be selling anything on E**y anymore, and I can't find a website, only directory entries, which may be out of date.

Sealant for slate floor tiles (on the cheap)

I am about to lay a few slate tiles as part of making good after reinstating a doorway which had been converted to a window 30 years or so ago . I am reluctant to spend 12 quid on a bottle of sealant to treat an area of under 5 sq ft, and am wondering if there is anything I am likely to have in...
