Pushfit soil pipe as dust extraction

An excellent well researched article which lays out the real risks clearly. Many thanks for finding it.

    The Toolpost

They are offering 25% discount on stock as they close down operations over the next month. A great loss of the best UK woodturning shop and awful for the Hemsleys.

    woodchuck lathe adapter

I hadn't realised that the pairing you were hunting down was so rare. But I had a quick look 'cos of the challenge and you are right this isn't going to be easy! No practical help at all but just thought I'd commiserate. Maybe dig a bit deeper and buy an easier to adapt 2nd hand or new chuck...

Nice one. Check out Charnwood for the thread adapters. I got one for a eccentric chuck 3/4” to m33 and i think it was around £12

    Chuck advice

It might not be totally logical but I have ended up with a mix of chuck types. I started off with Record Power chucks and bought 2 so I could keep button jaws on one all the time. Excellent chucks and after 3 years of use still as good as new. Jaw options are great and cheaper to build up a...

Axminster AC370l lathe has too many issues

Axminster service levels are excellent. If you are so unhappy with it I’d just get your money back as you clearly feel that the unit isn't fit for purpose. I would then commend looking very hard at better alternatives cos you do rather get what you pay for at the lower end of the lathe...

Donut or is it Doughnut chuck designs

Another thread Pinch pots has set me off on a mission to finally make myself a donut chuck. So before I google myself to sleep are there any ‘best practice’ designs anyone wants to share? This article seems a good starting point: Doughnut-chuck-article

    Pinch Pots

Many thanks. I really think I need to make one now! I think I’ll start a separate Donut chuck thread to gather some design ideas.

    Pinch Pots

Nice one: a proper job. A Doughnut chuck is on my ‘really want but too lazy to make’ list. Not very easy to buy in the uk either- did you make yours? Piccy?

    Pinch Pots

Nice little item which would make nice Christmas presents and also use up all the scraps. So did you turn out the pot recesses or just use a pillar drill? If turned did you hot melt glue to a waste block or something else? And if you used a pillar drill how did you remove the fortsner bit...

Choosing a scroll-saw. Why pay more? the answer is here.

Very helpful video's - many thanks! A lot of things are a lot clearer already. I've just been given an old Draper fs16a which is my very first entree into powered fretsaw work. I want to try to use this for smaller pieces to embellish / complement some of my woodturning work (which is my main...

    liming wax.

I've used chestnut gilt creams and find them quite effective when applied with thought. Expect Liberon to be similar I have also used Rub'n Buff metallic finish waxes and find them to be extremely effective with great coverage for very little product. Just as well as they come in small 15ml...

    Woodturning

That's awesome! Glad to have helped. I had a CL4 as my first lathe and only recently upgraded to an Axminster 1628. And I only did that 'cos I got a great deal and for the slightly bigger swing over bed. The CL4 does most things really well and has great torque. I only once swapped the belt...

    Unknown wood

The tricornered bowl is cedar of lebanon with lilac tree/bush lid and a walnut finial. The lilac was an overgrown bush which had blown over and a friend needed removing. It was about 8" at the base. Very swirly grain with colours from white through pink to dark brown. Split very quickly after...
