    Tilgear any good?

Circling back on this, I would not recommend Tilgear for their 311 plane. Ordered 2, 1 came with the adjustment screw drilled into the wrong place so it doesn't even make contact with the blade. The second I was able to file into something approaching useable, but presents the blade at a...

Thinking of getting a Makita 2704... Or is there better for the money?

The 90 and 45 are on adjustable cams, I set mine once and they've been fine ever after. The fence is also easily adjustable with an Allen key. A small amount of fettling after purchase and the saw has been accurate ever since. It's 0.5 mm accurate on the fence and further to that I'd not...

Thinking of getting a Makita 2704... Or is there better for the money?

The Dewalt table saw gets better press than the Makita. I don't have any experience with the Makita but bought the 10" Dewalt with the scissor legstand about 2 years ago. I'm a site joiner and I'm very pleased with it. Tool-less removal of the riving knife, easily adjustable rack and pinion...

    Tilgear any good?

Thanks. I don't want to "buy cheap, buy twice".

    Tilgear any good?

I've been looking through a tilgear catalogue and noticed they sell a 311 plane labelled as "Brook" and a copy of the 52e vice also sold as Brook. They're considerably cheaper than paying for a Clifton 311 or Irwin 52e. Would it be fair enough to assume they're not great quality?

Best Nail Gun for framing , cladding and roof timbers

Mine were both 2 speed. I still like the gun, I just think the paslode has a bit more power. My father had paslode guns for years and I'm well aware of their imperfections too including having to put the gas inside your jumper for a while on cold mornings. I'm still a fan to the dewalt, not...

    Shellac sanding sealer - problems

I've that problem before and was advised to stop using white spirits ad my cleaner. I'm definitely far from an expert though.

Best Nail Gun for framing , cladding and roof timbers

Sorry. I only just saw your question. I was using my dewalt recently building a timber frame on site. My workmate was using his paslode 350. We were firing a lot of 90mm rawl plug nails into c24 6x2. The dewalt was a lot more likely to find a piece of hard timber it didn't like and jam...

Best Nail Gun for framing , cladding and roof timbers

I'm also happy with my Dewalt framing nailer. It's cheapish too if you've already got dewalt batteries and only need to buy the bare unit. It's not as fast, or as powerful as the Paslode, but you don't have to worry about gas or getting it serviced regularly.

Countersunk bolt for whitehill block problem

Thanks. I'd bought stainless because stuff rusts in my shed, but I'd not known it might be a problem. I'll email Axminster today, but I've seen a bad review posted on this product concerning exactly this issue.

Countersunk bolt for whitehill block problem

Good evening. I've purchased a block for my spindle moulder that has a recess in the top to allow workpieces to pass over the block. I bought the block from axminster and it's arrived in a Whitehill box. The block includes a suitable countersunk washer, but no bolt to attach the block to my...

    Tormek versus Viceroy sharpedge?

I'm considering buying something for sharpening chisels and plane blades. A new T8 Seems to be only a little more expensive than I can find a second hand sharpedge locally. Is one machine much superior to the other? The price difference isn't much and I'd go for whichever is the better...

    Water wheel design help?

I've a decent head of around 12 metres. I've spoken to someone more knowledgeable than myself on the matter and the potential output does seem to be disappointingly low. It's certainly not worth investing in something like a pelton wheel. I might still build the wheel myself even just as a...

    Water wheel design help?

I intend to make a water wheel to put in a small stream near my house. By my own measurement the stream carries about 1.6 litres per second as of yesterday, but it hasn't rained with me in nearly two weeks. I intend to make the wheel from air dried Irish elm, and had planned on a 'backshot'...

    Stair advice, please.

Most stairs I fit use 13mm timber for the risers, might save you some weight. The newel posts, top riser and the half thread at the top have to be fitted on site.

SOLD - Axminster WS100/30 Spindle Moulder

I would very much like to purchase your sliding table if possible. I have a clone of this spindle moulder. Would you be willing to sell the sliding table, and if so would you be willing to post it to Northern Ireland? I know it's a lot to ask, but worth a shot. Thanks
