    Door build

I'm making a door for the first time. We have an odd size rear inner door which I really need to keep the same size. Looking at the frame it's 840mm. This may sound a stupid question but how wide should I make the door? I don't want loads of planing after but also don't want it to look very...

    Plywood stoke on trent

Hi I'm looking for recommendations for ply suppliers in the Stoke area. Only really used ply on none aesthetically pleasing appearance jobs. I purchased a sheet of far eastern hardwood faced ply from Stoke timber to make a raised dog bed. It's attractive on the face but the inner plies are all...

    joining solid wood worksurface

Hi all, hope someone can help. My son has a couple of solid wood work tops 27mm think he needs joining end to end. Using the joining bolts, what is the shallowist I can get away with routing? I'm thinking 20mm doesn't leave me a lot of wood above. TIA Drew

    Sanding discs

Hi All Just built myself a bench sander, (almost), 300mm. Just about to get some sanding discs and don't really want to be swapping grits all the time. 120 grit is classed as fine at Machine Mart and I'm thinking that is coarse enough. The other grits are 80 and 40. Any thoughts from people...

    Charnwood sliding table

Just got a Charnwood W619. Really chuffed with it although I have gone from a homemade saw to this so anything would probably seem good. The only query I have with it is does the sliding table normally fit flush with the main table or should it be slightly raised as this is? I would have thought...

    Magswitch

Just brought one of these contraptions for my new (to me) table saw, a charnwood W619. What a great piece of kit it's like having a spare hand. The rip cuts on narrow stock were spot on, I can highly recommend. https://www.tool-net.co.uk/p-406460/mag ... oCznLw_wcB Drew

    Which saw??

I have been agonising over this question for weeksI have been checking ebay and Gumtree every 10 minutes. I built a table saw last year and a few little projects with it and got the bug for woodworking. The table and fence were pretty good if I say so myself, however the saw it's self, an ex...
