    Olive oil tends to go rancid. Rapeseed oil and sunflower oil are better. I use orange oil for my wood turning bits that are used for foodstuff.

    How big/deep a bowl are you turning? As you go inside a bowl your tool extends further over the tool rest and you are more likely to get vibration. For bowls I tend to use a Sorby "S" shaped tool rest. I am sure others will be along to explain this better.

    Try to extract as much dust at source. By having something to suck up the dust as soon as it is created.

    Safety advice please.

    Would never use gloves of any sort where there is the chance of them getting caught or pulling your hand/fingers into a machine. Even nitrile gloves can still pull your hand to a machine if they get caught.
