    Bobbin sander losing power

Well, Clarke finally looked at it after having it a month and have just phoned to say the motor is broken and it's a 6-month wait for a new part and then it'll cost as much as a new unit. I'm furious as it's clearly a faulty product. It's had less than 1h use over a year and they refused to do...

    Bobbin sander losing power

So... I've just opened it all up and there's no sawdust inside I can see. Must be the electronics then?

    Bobbin sander losing power

Thanks for the replies. I'd checked the power supply and it's definitely the machine rather than the plug. I'd contacted Clarke about servicing as I didn't want to start taking it apart myself first off. They just replied saying to take it into machine mart for forwarding to their service...

    Bobbin sander losing power

Hi Just tried to use my bobbin sander (Clarke COEBS1) for the first time in a few months and it seems to be losing power. The rotation speed is really variable from normal down to really slow. Nothing wrong with the power source so can only assume it's the motor? There's also a slight burning...

    Table saw station fence

I'm building a table saw station for my Bosch GTS10J. The main issue with the saw is that the fence only goes up to 455mm which is annoying when cutting down large panels of ply. I'm torn between options for widening it: 1. Buying more of the fence guide profiles (front and back sections - it's...

    Block plane issues

There’s a huge gap at the bottom even when fully tightened and the dog is angled too as a result. Shop saw photo and said it wasn’t right and said to bring in for an exchange thankfully!

    Block plane issues

Thanks for all the helpful replies. In the end I've posted it back for a refund today. If it had been a quick fix I'd have kept it but it was sounding like way too much work. Think I'll save a bit longer and invest in a better plane, hopefully the Veritas one. I'm not having much luck with...

    Block plane issues

I'm near Kinoulton, south Nottinghamshire, so not too close to either sadly. Many thanks for the offer, if I'm still struggling with it in a weeks time I make take one of you up on it though! For the cost of the plane (think I paid £33) I wasn't expecting it to be perfect. I was expecting to...

    Block plane issues

That’s what I thought but when it’s in that slot, when the depth adjust screw is maxed out, the blade still isn’t protruding. Had to go for second slot to get it to push far enough.

    Block plane issues

I checked and the blade is definitely bedded correctly. See photo. The blade angle is given as 13.5 ( I measure it to be 13.8 so close enough). The primary bevel is given as 25, I measure it to be 23.

    Block plane issues

If I manually force open and secure the mouth as far open as possible (beyond the extend of the opening mechanism), this is the most mouth clearance possible. Seems really tiny, only 0.49mm on the wider side of the blade and 0.39mm on the other side.

No it’s bevel up. It’s a low angle block plane

    Block plane issues

I’ve just received this new Stanley 160mm block plane. Out the box I’m having issues with it making it unusable without regrinding, is this expected? The mouth doesn’t appear to be large enough for the factory blade angle even when adjusted to be fully open. The blade gets wedged against the...

    HVLP chip extractor

There's this one https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/sheppac ... ctor-230v/ It's 1HP 1150m³/h, £200. I've got no knowledge of Scheppach though, are they reliable/good quality build? Or there's (for a bit more) the smaller Fox one than mentioned earlier: Fox F50-841 - 1000m³/h...

    HVLP chip extractor

MikeK - Looks like a nice setup you have. I would be more ambitious if I had more space but currently I don't sadly. Hopefully will move somewhere bigger eventually with more space for a nice workshop, not just a tiny single garage. AES - Good idea! Hadn't thought about making my own.

    HVLP chip extractor

I don't disagree that you can get more power for a similar price point. It's just I'm not especially looking for a heavy duty extractor as this is just for my home workshop. I haven't got much space so the Fox suggested would be a bit too big for me I think. I've only got about 12m² space so...

    HVLP chip extractor

Well my use is light - only a home workshop. Maybe something like this will get the airflow needed then https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/record- ... nd-chip-e/ the 63mm is the built in extractor hood for the PT, not much can be done about that sadly! See how I get on I guess. How's best to fix...

    HVLP chip extractor

I'm not sure what the PT extraction requirement is to be honest, I can't find reference to one in the manual (https://www.clarkeservice.co.uk/manuals2/cpt1000.pdf).
