Hinges, handles and precut ash veneered MDF

Howdy everyone [it's been a while!]. I have looked in now and again, but woodworking opportunities have been few and far between. Three questions really..... I need to make some custom sized, built in wardrobes and drawers, and an office space in our new loft extension. I plan to make them...

    Supplier of Pocket Hole Screws?

Hello chaps, long time no visit. As ever, I'm hoping to pick your brains. I've joining a lot of 2" square timber, using pocket hole screws and need to replenish my stocks. Any ideas who the best supplier is? I know I can use "normal" screws but never find them quite so good as the proper ones...

    Help on website creation

I need to knock up a website - for my beekeeping club. It's mostly a "how to join", "whats involved", "whats on" type thing so no amazingly advanced content needed. I did lots on HTML about 5 years ago - but everything has moved on. I can program, if push comes to shove with some historical...

    Colour Laserjet? Printer Recommendations.....Help?

I'm fed up with replacing expensive ink cartridges, and wondered if now is the time to take the plunge on a colour laser printer. It will not, ever, be used for photos as I prefer to send these off for printing, its purely for "home-business" type use, mostly black, but occasionally items in...

Adams Workshop (finished!) very very long post with photos..

OK, OK, I know I had a workshop thread already, but I thought it would be useful to consolidate it into a single thread, into which all the photos etc could be in a single series, and in addition, I could incorporate a few pictures I didn't use originally. To reduce download times, I've also...

    Trend Airpro vs Trend Airshield.

I'm wondering about the Airshield.... ~£150 Or the airpro ~£200 Is it really worth the extra? I've been wondering about one of these (a powered dust mask) for a couple of years, mostly for routing / sanding, but also on the odd occasions I do something on the lathe. Anyone any thoughts? Adam

Help from someone in the US to redirect a parcel

My other hobby is beekeeping.... .....and one of the items of equipment I use is a smoker. My current one is falling to bits and I need to replace it. With smokers, bigger is better as trying to keep smouldering fires going in a compact space doesn't work very well. The biggest on the market...

    Keeping a conservatory cool

We have a timber framed conservatory - which has single pane glass on the verticals, and this "plastic" double cell type sheet for the roof. Its water tight, and we can't afford to replace it currently. Problem is - it gets tremendously hot (50 deg +) as its south facing. Other than leaving...

    Hmm Whisky ;-)

Well, just noticed someone had Scapa as their avatar.... my preferred tipple are Islay malts (even took a holiday there, and stayed in a cottage next to the Caol Ila distillery). Not every day you wake up to the smell of your favourite malt.... We managed to tour as many as we could, Caol Ila...

    Second Hand Car Recommendations? Estate?

I'm looking for a car (no, not a van!), it must be an estate (as I'm always moving beehives around, and need to seat 4 adults). I have a budget up to £5K. Anyone recommend anything in particular? Or more importantly not recommend anything? At that price I could get a high mileage Volvo/Audi...

Quick question about roof pitch for workshop....

What is a "normal" pitch to put on a roof? Any advantages to them being steeper/shallower? Currently, I've got mine set to 30 degrees like below I was planning to make "A" frames, basically as shown. Any comments? Adam

    Comparison of Anti-Virus programs

    Quality of Power tool Manufacturers....

I saw a reference to Hilti power tools this morning, as being "the best" of power tools. I didn't even know about this brand. Perhaps there are others I don't know about - if so... please add in any thoughts.... I was wondering, if anyone who has experience of multiple brands, and/or repairs...

    Compressors and air-tools - a few questions.....

I've been using my nail gun an awful lots over the last couple of days... and decided to invest in one of these in-line lubricators that Scrit mentioned recently..... Q1) I see Axminster do a special "Air Tool Oil" - for these in-line lubricators is that necessary? Can I just use normal oil in...

So... whos been out rustling timber in this weather?

Our next door neighbours tree appears to be lying across my front garden - its a lilac, and not big enough to do anything with. Do people turn with it? I can hear chainsaws buzzing away in the distance, so some good timber must be falling somewhere? Or are you all out with your chainsaws as I...

    Rocking Chair....

Well, I've been talking about this on and off to several forum members for at least a year or two. But I've always said it be 3 years or so to finish. 1 year planning, 1 year moving house + new workshop, 1 year to build.... Anyway, I'll start with some thanks for Waterhead for accompanying me...
