Very very Nice Bling Safe Sliding Saw by Altendorf.

You didn't pay attention or skipped some key information... that's how accidents can happen. He was raising the blade [whilst switched on]. A bit tricky to do that with push sticks... even for you.

MFT Bench Dogs - Thoughts and recommendations?

They're on Bangood for a lot less than the Festool ones. They are thicker (>18mm IIRC) than the Festool ones though so can get in the way.

    Tarting Up Ceiling Beams

And now you have the arms of a gorilla t'boot 💪 It's a shame nobody but you will likely appreciate the time and graft. If it were me, I'd be tempted to clock the first person commenting, "oh, so you just sanded them then". They look great, well done (y)

    Round Head Screws For MDF

Axminster do a good range of torx pocket hole screws. They're partially threaded which may / may not be a good thing based on your intended application.

    MFT top, ply or MDF

18mm moisture resistant (the green stuff) MDF all the way for me. Ply will tear out around dog holes and any kerf lines - unless you're spending good money on good ply. MDF will slag ever so slightly over time as Spectric points out so you can flip it over every month, or if you're like me and...

    Festool CTLSYS/Domino DF500 issues

Having just re-read your original post, I thought you'd tried your domino on a mates CT and it was the same - not that a mates domino did the same on your CT. A domino will use more power than a sander so maybe that's at play here? Bingy man's suggestion above sounds worth trying... and he can...

    Festool CTLSYS/Domino DF500 issues

Sounds like a back to the mothership issue to me I'm sorry to say. I've had just the one problem with a DF500 where it wouldn't turn on; and that was cured by blowing carp out of the switch.

    Folding work table.

@paulrbarnard I envy your tent. Something like that would be so handy for the copious rain (and being ginger when the sun makes an appearance) in Shetland. Sadly, the wind up here would have it away before you could say, "oh fu..."

    Folding work table.

Clips (13mm IIRC) on 12mm ply packers to provide enough clearance for the leg ends. And the 2 doorstops down the LHS drop into the tops of the Bora legs - with corresponding circles drawn on the top side to help lining them up 👨‍🎓 Legs clipped in: And velcro straps to keep the legs from...

    Folding work table.

I use 2 of the Bora legs with MFT tops for portable "benches". They're light weight, so no use for anything involving planes and the like. But they are invaluable for cutting up sheets and general work. I did away with the Bora clamps for holding the tops on and just screwed on some door stops...

    Festool Retailer

Nuts & Bolts have usually been good on price but they don't have (or didn't have and may have upped their game) the greatest reputation for communicating any problems. I just avoid them now having had a good few items taking weeks to come and seeing others in a Festool FB group having similar...

FC Tools fc32 rail plunge jig

Holy time warp, that's how I tried to do it some 8 years ago off the back of that exact same video. It worked pretty well, but I'd end up with very small inconsistencies (like a row being ~0.2mm out) in the grid pattern. Then it was a couple of different router templates which were way quicker...

FC Tools fc32 rail plunge jig

The "indexing thing" are the "do-hickey" (end stops) I mentioned above with the photo. If you want to learn about what they help accomplish, there's a video specifically about them: From experience, they really do help eliminate alignment errors and speed up setup time; especially when...

FC Tools fc32 rail plunge jig

If you follow Frank on his socials you get to see (typically when in development / approaching release) some videos with demos of things. Or you used to as I'm out of touch with that now. But yeah, some of the more obscure items could do with better blurb. He does like to iterate on things...

FC Tools fc32 rail plunge jig

A (very!) minor point about OEM vs. jig made holey rails is that, certainly on the Festool rails (IDK about the Bosch / Mafell but Mafell being Mafell they've likely thought of that), the indexing holes are actually oval in shape. The idea being to aid the indexing pin finding it's way in rather...

    Trend Varijig

Trend do have a habit of whacking their logo on things that really aren't much use in practice. Which is a pity as they're a big UK name... or were. And that Woodpecker jig looks even more faffy than the comparable Festool "MFS 400" offering... and it's even more expensive too. Both the smaller...

    Trend Varijig

I had one a good while back but never got on with it. It was that long ago that I'm vague on the reasons... but squaring it up was a PITA and the measurement scales either moved or weren't consistent (I did say vague!). Ended up with the MFS (Festool) which was a fiddly pain to put together but...

    New Mafell router

I prefer the gun style grips as I find them easier to control; especially going round corners and anything involving a holy rail. The 2nd point about plug-it compatibility, even Festool don't get it right across the range (hello HL850!) but it's a godsend if you're invested in their system...

    New Mafell router

I've seen this popping up across various platforms and it does look like quite the thing. Mafell really do think things through and innovate better than most *cough* Festool. The one thing that made me twitch was right at the start of the video where he's showing the [ooh, that looks clever but...

Out of level alcove cupboards, ideas and opinions please

Sorry to say, but 2nd option looks better IMO. Maybe your laser was drunk and it's not as bad as it looks? Hope so. That's a lot of wonk to be dealing with if not 🙈 That said, if the floor is parallel to the upper wonk, it may square up the doors and ease the pain. Still a pig to make right though.
