    Wishbone for Plane

I bought the Lie Nielsen blade for my old 604 and had to replace the lever as the blade is thicker (a little mouth adjustment also). So I bought the brass Y-lever off Workshop Heaven and it worked a treat. Jonny

Is your plane as sharp as these?

Thanks for posting the link; really enjoyed watching that.

    Router

I can recommend the D26204 as I’ve owned one for a number of years now and if I had to buy one again, I’d buy exactly the same. I’ve used it for intricate hand-held scroll work and edge trimming, to larger routing of chamfers or simple mouldings with the plunge fitting. I recently routered...

    Scheppach Bassato 3 Bandsaw

As per previous comment. Lift the red plastic emergency stop switch cover and the green for go button will be underneath it. Remember, put the red switch cover back down. It's there for easy access should you cut your arm off. Jonny

    Painted kitchen with Walnut detail.

Thank you for the reply. Really appreciated. We’ve decided to build the units as well. Your project has inspired us. I had a look at those hinges - top quality. So did you use your standard butt hinges on that project? I thought it may have been a decorative finial cranked butt hinge...

    Painted kitchen with Walnut detail.

That is absolutely beautiful - fantastic work. I will be starting to renovate our kitchen at the end of the year, and this design with the shaker doors flush inside the unit, is exactly what my wife (aka the boss) wants. I was originally thinking about just making the doors and keeping the...

    Record Power PT260 Planer Thicknesser

I have the PT260 and really like it. It's easy to move around on the wheels if you're stuck for space and want it out the road when not in use. Fiddly to change from planer to thicknesser for the first couple of times, until you get used to the set-up. I find it gives a pretty good finish...

    Routering Cast Iron (continued)

Ha ha ha, they were well away from the firing line!

    Routering Cast Iron (continued)

I took the safety part pretty seriously - it did make me nervous. I had double eye protection on (glasses and a full-face mask); leather motorbike gloves and my leather motorbike jacket on (I did consider my motorbike helmet - I jest you not). I was expecting part of the bit to sheer off and...

    Routering Cast Iron (continued)

Ha ha ha ha. I'll be honest, my heart was racing before that first pass, hence my tester was on the right hand track at the back of the saw where I 'might' not notice an absolute cluster f**k of an idea. I fully expected bits of router and router bit to become airborne.

    Routering Cast Iron (continued)

You know, now that you mention that, I wish I'd used a bearing guide on the final pass on one side. Why didn’t I think of that – duh. So obvious now. The track opens to 21mm at the bottom (again Scheppach, why?!), so I had to leave a little metal on one side to keep it at a standard 19mm. I...

    Routering Cast Iron (continued)

I posted here a couple of week’s back, on the subject of routering cast iron using a wood bit. I’ll say here now, I’m a weekend warrior. Joinery used to be my trade once upon a time, but now I spend my working life sitting at an office desk. Woodworking is still my number one passion, however...

    Routering Cast Iron

I will do. I’ll post some photos. It may not be able to router depending on the cast, so I’ll try a few mm test area in a location that won’t bother me if it can’t be done.

    Routering Cast Iron

As you can see, not a great quantity of material has to be removed, so I think the router bit and router could handle it.

    Routering Cast Iron

My track slot is an inverted T. It's a 10.5mm openning at the top with a 21mm openning at the bottom. The material I would be removing is very little and is probably less than what Cosmas Bauer removed. Jonny

    Routering Cast Iron

Thank you for the replies - including the PPE shopping list . I had to ask the quetion as I know nowt about it. If it was doable and easy, then worth a try. I must admit he did make it look pretty easy on his video - but hey, it could a fake video...

    Routering Cast Iron

Please forgive me if this subject has been hammered to death. I own a Scheppach Preciso 4 table saw with the cast iron table top. It's a lovely saw, which I wanted partly for the stacking dado blade capability. It does everything I need it to do and more, however a major bug bear of mine is...
