A little truth for a change.

Yes but we're down to 1 now, used to be another useful one on main street.

A little truth for a change.

The goal posts have quickly moved. So three litres of water and 2000 calories within a 15 minute walk?

A little truth for a change.

The nearest town to me has a pop around 11,000 including the surrounding borough. The town itself, inside 30 mph limit is maybe 2 miles across. It has a couple of banks, post office swimming pool etc but hasn't had a cinema. for nearly 60 yrs. So if you lived in the town centre, it's almost a...

    "Indoors" Toolkit Thread

Nice to meet another lazy sod like myself. :) I have a basic toolkit bought online which covers me for basic stuff. Cordless drills and electric stuff still reside out in the workshop.

A little truth for a change.

I can't decipher that. I don't want to live in a city, any city. Least of all a fantasy city. You must realise that a city with a supermarket, library, primary school, secondary school, university, bank etc, etc every two miles is a complete fantasy.

A little truth for a change.

According to Copilot, A 15-minute city is an urban planning concept that envisions a city where most daily necessities and services—such as work, shopping, education, healthcare, and leisure—are easily accessible within a 15-minute walk, bike ride, or public transit ride from any point in the...

A little truth for a change.

I've been wrong before, but I'd hazard a guess, nay, I'd bet that a 15 minute city would be an urban area.

A little truth for a change.

Nowt, as they say, wrong with the idea of a 15 minute city, if that is how you want to live. Not everyone wants to live that way.

A little truth for a change.

I don't think it all about the numbers. One person living in "the west" uses up much more resources than ( pick a number and enter it here) persons living in a less industrialised poorer country. A car, for instance, petrol or diesel, could be made to last a lifetime, it could also be made to go...

That was dealt with in a previous thread. I'm still waiting for proof that he didn't say it.

    Not a very convincing statement.

    Not a Hybrid

I had a diesel car which caught fire, so it can definitely can happen. But the fire didn't happen because it was diesel, it started in the fuse box.

A little truth for a change.

It was called global warming until it was pointed out that temperatures over recent centuries had not increased, then "they" started on about climate change. They are at present harping about increased co2 levels, which will help plant and vegetation growth but no, "they" can find some other...

A little truth for a change.

I see no harm in that. It's a hot topic which needs discussion. Big problem most people don't discuss, they get behind their barrier and throw verbal stones. I go to family gatherings a few times a year, they sit around eating sugar and talking the same nonsense but I still go. Nobody forces...

A little truth for a change.

I also remember long warm summers, also a thing we don't get anymore. I don't care which religious denomination you belong to, either climate warming or not, and that is basically what it comes down to, do governments lie, does big business want to sell us more stuff, are there things we don't...

    Joke Thread 4

A number of years ago I was in the market for a used car. I asked my mechanic what he thought of the Skoda Octavia. Pretty good car he said it's a bit like an Audi A4 only better. The suspension in the A4 will cost you £500 after a few years, the Skoda won't.
