I’ve just read this in one go. Fantastic work and an interesting read. Your skill and craftsmanship make it look much easier than I know it is. Almost makes me think I could do it too. 😂 Thanks for taking the time to let us all see how it’s really done. I appreciate it. Mick

They stopped making screws in the Mid 70s. According to Google. Seems they are lock makers called ASSA.

    Is this an eBay scam?

Ignore it until contacted by eBay. if you were able to refund the next thing you would get is a request from eBay for a Paypal refund claiming the item never arrived. Mick

    Halfords 1/4” socket set

Recently my half-inch ratchet switch broke off. I went into Halfords to ask if they did a recon kit and the guy just replaced it off the shelf as it was one of their 'professional' ones. That's a good service. it was not new, I had bought it quite a few years ago.

Which resin to fill letters in a sign?

I used epoxy to infill lettering with black wood dye from Axminster. The only thing I would mention is the drying time was a good few days before it was hard enough to sand flat. Mick

    Lots of hot air

I am late to the party and have not read everything in this 28-page thread so forgive me if it has already been said but I have not seen it. Surely we are overpopulated? Why would we need this frenetic lifestyle if there were not so many people? We are outliving our design spec by using our...

    Raised bed for chiminea

Slightly off-topic. I had one of those. Left it out over winter, covered with a very expensive cover. Went to pick it up to move it and it fell apart into a hundred pieces, I was left standing there with the chimney and a pile of dust. Don't leave it out over winter is my advice. Mick

    Mini CNC machine

I have one of these. Used it a few times for engraving names/dates into wood and filling with resin. Works really well. I use Easel from Inventables. https://www.inventables.com/technologies/easel Really important to secure the piece onto the work table well. Double-sided tape on its own is...
