Polishing out fine scratches on chrome picture frame

I am a picture framer and have had to take and put back several times a large picture (movie poster size) that is framed with a thin 10mm wide chrome plated frame, where I have dismantled/re assembled several Times there are now a few very fine scratches on the frame. I have tried very fine 3M...

    Sorry. Yet another boiler thread....

It been a while (approx 5 years) when I was last a plumber/gas engineer, now a picture framer but my thoughts. Someone mentioned that if the PRV opened it might not reseal completely, this is correct as debris can be present on the faces of the rubber seal and the brass faceplate it seals...

Impact Driver : Bosch Blue or Metabo

Very interesting insight in to Japanese products. I drive a 2008 Honda CRV and it has been super reliable and a pleasure to drive I have always admired Honda’s and indeed other Japanese cars and motorcycles I know it seems a bit hypocritical after my previous post about Chinese etc. goods. But...

Impact Driver : Bosch Blue or Metabo

I would love to see a resurgence in power tools and indeed other things being manufactured in countries other than China as I feel their dominance in the world is going to have very serious consequences. Europe, USA/ Canada, Australia etc. are more than capable but we must be prepared to pay the...

    Water Softeners drinking softened water

As far as I’m aware the salt is only used to reverse flush the balls that capture the hardness so unless you consume the very first water after a replenish it should be relatively salt free.

    Formica

Change of plan the delivery cost for one sheet of Formica is high, If I was to paint some 18mm MDF Red what would be the best paint and would it be a good idea to finish with a protective varnish to make it more hard wearing, I have used Bedec paint before that was quite good and Osmo (on bare wood)

    Air line

I do picture framing in a room in my bungalow and it has come to the point that I need a air supply for a underpinner and staple gun etc. In the room I work in, You can buy silent compressors but they are expensive and space is a premium. I already own a fairly powerful compressor that is in my...

    Clarify insulation

What I did Put Roofing batons full length on rafters for the 75mm Celotex to but up to leaving a 50mm air gap above, same full lengths under Celotex to hold it up, I have left the Celotex approximately 40mm short from butting up against the wall to provide air flow, the other end is open in to...

    Celotex floor

Well here’s what I did: On further examination there was a raised area of approximately 12mm in height the length of the garage about 350mm wide where at some time in the past a new drain had been laid. Material I already had DPC 300 gauge and several 8x4 sheets of 25mm polystyrene. So instead...

Think I have it now 50mm gap above 75mm Celotex then I will have a gap of approximately 40mm then the vcl and plasterboard, Which I can then sink my low depth LED lights in to, according to Kingfisher site this is acceptable method when you need to put downlighting in but I am open to...

    Celotex floor

I have a big roll of DMP 4x25M would there be any advantages to putting some down before the Celotex then some more on the Celotex before the 22mm chipboard? I doubt very much that the existing garage floor has a DPM fitted already. Also I assume I am ok to use heavy gauge DPM instead of a...
