Long Time Missing from the forum

Near the end of May this year I suffered what they called a mini heart attack. I guess if you have a heart attack & it doesn't kill you it is called a mini. Anyhow I was put through many tests including injection of dye followed by x-ray of the heart. The cardiologists decided they had no choice...

    Wooden Toys

Yesterday I had to turn in this year's crop of toys for distribution to children of needy families at Christmas. Attached is a group photo consisting of 1 dinasaur with animated legs & head & tail bobbing up &down. 2 hand pump rail cars, 3 jigsaw puzzles of a macaw, 2 shoelace tops, 2...

    Another wooden toy

An early 1900's hand rail car. When pulled the two guys pump the handles. Quite a lot of action to the thing. It will be donated along with others at Christmas to children of needy families. Thanks for looking. Lee

    Toy Dinosaur

This is the last one.....gotta get outside & get the yard work in hand. In any case this is a push toy rather than one " pulled along behind". The legs are articulated, the neck/head & tail bob up and down and the neck & tail sway from side to side while the child pushes it along the floor...

    Child's Jigsaw Puzzle

A friend recently returned from a vacation in Mexico & he brought back a child's jigsaw puzzle. I have a scroll saw which I recently acquired but still lacking in experience. In any case I thought the jigsaw puzzle would be a good learning experience & made two. I must be a slow learner because...

    Articulated caterpillar

This toy besides being articulated, the balls in the body segments rotate. Like previous toys that I have posted, this toy will also go to a child of a needy family at Christmas. Thanks for looking. Lee

Here is another old design toy....dates to 1910

This grasshopper design was pictured in the same old magazine along with the elephant on a drum article. Kinda fun to make these old toys & bring them back into existance. This too will go in the group of toys donated at Christmas to children of needy families. Thanks for looking. Lee

Elephant on a drum pull toy

I came across an old magazine with a black & white photo of this pull toy. Apparantly, according to the article, this toy dates back to the mid 1940's which in itself made it interesting to me. When it is pulled the elephant rocks back & forth on the drum. Thanks for looking. Lee [/img]

    Toy Sea Serpent

I was recently cleaning out old magazines & came across a photo of a wooden toy sea serpent of early 1900's vintage. So I promply copied it and a pic is attached. Lee [/img]

    Toy Crocodiles

A friend recently returned from Mexico & brought with him a toy wooden crocodile with a flexible body (croc on the left in photo) which I promptly copied (center of photo). Because kids seem to really like animated pull toys I made one which when pulled the legs pretend that it is running & with...

    Toy Road Grader

A short while ago I posted a pic of a toy road grader with lugged "V" tread wheels followed in response to inquiries on how I made these wheels using a BS. Well.....last night I woke in the wee hours & was not able to get back to sleep so started to think about perhaps an easier way to make...

    Early start this year....

on toy building for inner city Kids at Christmas. Last year due to the heater in the shop crapping out then replacing it, it was Sept. before I got started which kinda caused a press for time. I kinda liked the road grader made last year so this was the first "build" this year with some minor...

Have managed to squeeze in one more toy for needy kids just prior to the deadline for turning them in for distribution. This one is a road grader with swiveling blade. Thanks for looking. Lee[/img]

    Toy Train

Finally getting some time in the shop & it will be a rush to get a goodly number of toys ready for donation to inner city kids at Christmas. In any case here is a recently completed train. It is a play/semi-educational toy....ie: the flat car with the discs teach fractions....whole, halves...

    First toy of the year....

My heater crapped out over the winter....still worked but efficiency waaaay down so no working in the shop. Now that it has warmed up the first thing that had to be done was install a gas fired tube heater. At 45,000 btu's for a 440 square foot space, that thing really puts out heat. Anyhow, you...

Sheesh... I'm afflicted by the blahs......

& for some reason am deep in malaise. Snow still on the ground here despite being tired of winter since last Nov.1st. Ugly stuff with lots of sand & dirt mixed in. Usually, I have one or two toys made for Christmas distribution to needy kids. ...this year....so far nada. :( Maybe too...

    Photo test

My computer crashed a couple of weeks ago & after getting it back from the hospital found that it works a little different than it used to. As each forum that I visit varies somewhat in how images are posted, I have been trying them all. It's now your turn LOL. Lee [/img] Yup...it works !
