    Scum of the earth

Some poor carpenter in Devon had is tools stolen from the back of is van last night, it was on the local news this morning. Apparently he couldn't get insurance to cover him. You could say he should have taken them indoors every night. I don't know the circumstances so can't comment , but these...

    Cutting bench

I am shortly going to make an MFT (top) style cutting bench using 18mm MDF and also would like to use it for glue ups. I seem to remember someone suggesting using Danish oil to Finnish it,to stop the run out from Sticking to the bench. Anybody tried this? Thanks

    Nobex promaster

Not a review. Just a few comments Just to say I bought one a couple of weeks ago, apart from the rubbish instructions for setting it up I am delighted with it. At least the one I have, is spot on. I found that the trick (if it is a trick ) is to let the saw do the cutting. As an artist I do a...

    Makira track saw guide

I made one some years ago, but it worked From the rear of the guide. As I have quite a lot of identical cuts to make I find it easier to have the guide in front of the cut and just keep moving the track back to the set stops. Not a new idea I know, it may be that makita make a guide, but this...

Most used / loved home made jig in your workshop?

I couldn't find a thread on this, so, my most used jig is my cross cut sledge. My original one was a bit basic, so my latest one has built in stops and extended stops for longer pieces. The other jig I like and use a lot a lot is my mitre jig. I love making jigs and could spend most of my days...

    kreg pocket hole plug cutter

I see that in the Kreg news letter that they have a new pocket hole plug cutter. Looks interesting. I usually only use the Kreg pocket hole jig in places that aren't on show, but would be nice to match the grain of the wood that you are working with on the project. I know I could cut (and do)...

I have been pulling my hair out today trying to get it to re-saw a piece of oak 160 X 16 x 7cm.l bought a...

Small Christmas gift ideas, what did you make?

Always a challenge to think of inexpensive gifts to make for Christmas. Coming from a family of bookworms I decided to make and hang a few of these on the Christmas tree this year. No prizes for guessing the type of wood used, I did however have a few B/A Walnut dowls left over from a previous...
