    Record power chuck shortages

I sold the old chuck and returned the adaptor to Yandles, I am very happy with my new toy (SC4) : )

    Record power chuck shortages

SC4 is back in stock at Yandles for my size of M33 x 3.5 - I have put my order in : )

    Record power chuck shortages

I double checked and gave it a good tighten - seems to work better now. Still not 100% comfortable with it, three lumps of metal spinning at high speed rather than just one - Might just go for the SC3 and the direct connection and sell this one on. Although Record charge a huge amount for...

    Record power chuck shortages

I might return the adaptor. I tried it this morning with my Nova Chuck on. It vibrated even with no wood attached and did not feel very safe. I am wondering with the two adaptors it makes the Nova too heavy. On the box it says it's for the rp2000 chuck which is smaller than my one, I don't...

    Record power chuck shortages

For information, I had confirmation that the adaptor from Record is hollow - which is great news for me : )

    Record power chuck shortages

I have ordered the insert now, the only thing I was wondering now, is if the insert is hollow or not. It would be ideal if it was, as I could use pin jaws and be able to use thinner bits through the headstock.

    Record power chuck shortages

I think you're right, I measured the insert this morning and it was about 1 1/2" - I will let you know how I get on. At least if I get the nova working again I will have a back up chuck as well if I choose to get a new one : )

    Record power chuck shortages

I think that would work, thank you. I might try and work out what the thread of the chuck is. As currently the chuck already has a thread insert to fit it on my old lathe DML36SH (record), which had a thread of 34 x 16tpi

    Record power chuck shortages

I have submitted a question to Axminster on this, as the user guide says that you should not. Also the record system seems to be cheaper overall (probably not British made) - The SK100 package is still just shy of £190 and the jaws all seem to be a bit more than the record equivalent.

    Record power chuck shortages

Hello, I have just setup my new lathe and looking forward to starting to turn again once this cold snap is over. I have only just started to look at getting a chuck to fit my lathe as my supernova 2 chuck does not have a thread suitable (M33 x 3.5 - Axminster lathe AT350WL). If I was a rich...

Withdrawn Keeping : ) Nova supernova 2 chuck - £60 - local pickup only (SW Devon).

Hello, I am looking to sell my supernova 2 chuck - it fitted my record DML36 SH lathe which I believe the thread to be 3/4" x 16 TPI - the chuck has an insert to reduce the size to fit the lathe (not sure on the size). Box it came in is a bit knackered and if I don't manage it, it needs a...

    Non Axminster branded Numatic's.

@Farmer Giles If I was closer I would jump at the chance of buying off you. Your needs sound a bit different to mine, I am moving from a double garage (I had a ducted system) to a small outbuilding (very small), so the hose will just move between the machines. I like the idea of the NVD as I am...

    Non Axminster branded Numatic's.

Hello, I was thinking about buying the NUMATIC NVD750 from Axminster, but it's now out of stock on the Axminster site : ( It looks to fit most of my needs, will work with my power tools and probably do a reasonable job with a bandsaw and light work with a thicknesser. Cost is high though...

Advice on replacing raised beds in the garden

How about old scaffolding planks. Some one at the weekend, said they have changed what they use right now, so there may be some going cheap. In my previous house, I made a raised bed out off weatherboards (I think that's what they are called).

    Alternative for tormek?

I have the scheppach TiGer 2000s. I never managed to get any accurate results from it. There was too much play. I will keep though and use it for the leather strop. I use a record grinder now for my wood turning gauges and it works well. I will however look to buy a jig system at some point...

Using a shop vac around the house... bad idea/good idea?

I was thinking about getting a NUMATIC NVD750, as I sold my previous Camvac that had sat outside of my workshop and looking for a replacement. Since I will no longer have a workshop (when I buy my new place in the coming months), I was thinking it would be a good option as a house vacuum as...

As the Rolling Stones sung - "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometime you find You get what you need"

I find this is always my dilemma, when looking at what tools to buy - my eyes are bigger than my belly. I really love all the big trade rated machinery but I am a light use hobbyist and in reality I don't really need trade rated machinery. I have recently sold a whole load of machines (bandsaw...

SOLD (Subject to pick up) Lots of items for sale

Luna W59 planer thicknesser - it's a beast that runs on 16A circuit (worth mentioning) - £400 I am having second thoughts on the other stuff, so cutting it back to just the Planer Thicknesser for now. I may add more again at some point.
