    Trimming a kitchen cabinet

I've decided to replace the sheddy, ancient and really naff integrated cooker in the kitchen in the new house. I measured it up and while it seemed tight I thought I'd be ok. However I've now got the new cooker, removed the old one, chopped the work top and I'm still about 10mm short. My...

Secret Santa 2019 - thanks, everyone.

It's nice to see it all going well this year Phil. I'm very happy that you're doing such a great job and that the tradition is in new and very capable hands.

    Dandan's Side Gates

Hey Dan, It's nice to see you here on the other, other channel. Assuming you're the same Dandan (same photo tho). You never post pictures of what you're doing in DIY Club (tho that is hard to do on UKC), but that's some top notch work you're doing there I have to say. Cheers, Matt

Secret Santa 2018 Pictures here, please (page nine start).

There's never been a value. Just give something you'd like to receive. I suspect people would generally value thoughtful and useful over lots of expensive tat. No one has ever asked that before actually.

    Secret Santa 2018

I did look, but as it's always in Hand Tools and there's nothing there I assumed that it'd be up to me as usual. Didn't see that it was in General Woodworking, as it's always been in Hand Tools normally. I have posted in General Woodworking to raise the profile once or twice, but that's it. I...

Is it still too early to ask...

I'm well respected? Blimey. It used to be run by Waka, but two years ago he stopped and I stepped in. It's never been run by mods that I'm aware of.

    Planing with a thicknesser

custard - so I could just get away with a bit of say mdf or plywood for the base and then like you say, glue/wedge the board on. Sounds good to me. I don't mind doing a bit of handplaning on something that's 90% there. Or taking the worst off so it can go on the board. But I suspect that not...

    Planing with a thicknesser

deema - I normally find most things in woodworking are 'solved' problems, so trying to do something vastly outside the norm isn't done for good reasons. Also I don't have loads of time sunnybob - Yeah, I'd heard of the wedges and glue gun as a method. Sounds like it works well enough. I...

Woodcraft weekend coming up in Botanic Gardens

Ohhh, that sounds interesting. I could possibly tempt the missus to come up with me.

    Planing with a thicknesser

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried this method for planing: http://www.getwoodworking.com/news/arti ... nesser/776 I don't have a big shed (12x8) and the floor isn't great, so even if I could get a decent P/T inside, it'd probably collapse the floor. There's also a lack of power. So...

UKW Secret Santa Photos Thread 2017

I got a lovely little smoother from my Secret Santa. Really excellent piece and looks like it'll be a great little plane for those inconvenient nooks and small jobs. Lovely bit of engineering and woodworking.

If you're buying a new washing machine, beware .............

I have a Miele which is nearing 8 years or so old. We're lucky to have a local repair company who are pretty decent, they'll come out and take a look for free. We did knacker the pump as neither myself or my wife are that dilligent with checking pockets, so it was full of screws and coins...
