    Which dominos to buy?

So, I need to restock on 8mm & 10mm dominos for the Festool... Where to get them now and are the alternatives (non-Festool) ones any good? Ta

    Flattening a small door...

We have a family piece of pre-WW2 Waring & Gillow furniture - a nice, small, dark wood faux-jacobean dresser. The top small door is warped (see photos) - it's about 45cm wide x 30cm tall and maybe 15mm thick in the middle. The axis of the warp is horizontal and the max displacement is about...

    UK Sand Blasting compressor advice...

So, I've just acquired a small desk-top sand/shot blasting cabinet - it's a pretty generic one sold under various names, one being the Sealy SB951, though I only paid a fraction of that s/h, complete with 25kg of grit, a very solid work table on castors, loads of spare nozzles and kit etc. Only...

    Bee-safe Exterior protection for plywood...

I have some sheets of Class II 12mm B/BB plywood sitting around and I want to make some small beehives from them - in the Beekeeping world these are known as "nucs". They may be outside all winter... Class II is not exterior grade/marine, so needs extra protection. Further, as these boxes will...

    Bench re-planking...

So, I have this excellent iron bench that weighs in at about 100++kg - it's 2M long with 3 substantial iron supports (end-middle-end). It needs replanking and I'm wondering what to do. I can easily do this myself as I've made benches in oak for the National Trust etc., but then someone else was...

    T-Slot nuts for Kity 1619....

Hi I'm after some t-slot nuts for a Kity 1619 table saw. I would make some, however the milling head of my lathe is currently u/s.... I've attached a diagram of the cross-section. I've looked in the usual places and found nothing - ideas appreciated (and, yes, I've Googled a fair bit for...

    Repolishing granite...

Slightly odd one this.... We have black granite highly polished worktops in our kitchen - not solid black - bits of quartz,/mica in there too so it doesn't show grease etc easily - pure/solid black is a nightmare... So, after 17 years of intensive use, one or two sections have a slight "bloom"...

    Cleaning oiled oak kitchen...

So 15 years ago we installed a Shaker-style solid oak kitchen - the doors/draw fronts are all Danish Oiled... About 7 years ago i cleaned the doors etc and re-oiled lightly. They are always wiped down anyway as part of general cleaning... But now I've noticed that they are getting a bit...

    TIMBER!!!!!

Well, "Poplar timber" to be specific... We lost a big (60+ ft) poplar in the storms. Can I use it for anything? I'd like to make something out of it to remember the tree by - we still have three other poplars, but for how long? It fell perfectly: Just missing a couple of my beehives by 1m on...

    Spindle tree...

Just had to take most of one down and log it... Very dense... Is it good for anything? (Apart from spindles, toothpicks and skewers, that is...)

    Wanted Tormek T4 +...

Longshot, I know... ...but does anyone have a T4 and any associated bits that they're looking to move on or which is just never used and you'd like some return on that investment? I can't justify a new one, so pre-loved would be just great!

    Looking for a shoulder plane...

I already have had a Clifton 420 for many many years, but was thinking about the 3110, mainly for its flexibility. Obviously, combination tools like the 3110 are sometimes a compromise. so I was wondering what folk thought about any possible alternatives in that price bracket? (around 200...

    The realities of tool ownership...

Saw this on the Northern Line last Sunday. Plainly copywriters have no idea at all about the realities of tool ownership... Made me think though. I can't even remember how many drills I have, but it's certainly *way* more than 2.8

Re-fill engraved lettering in stainless steel...

I've got a stainless steel cooker in our kitchen - it's a Lacanche range.. The black ink has come out of most of the engraved markers round the dials... I'm looking for a hard-wearing paint or similar to re-fill these marks - ISTR that you could get pens with enamel paint in or similar...

    4"/100mm chip extraction...

I need a new mobile (on wheels) chip extractor for a decent home workshop... Tools include a bs350 bandsaw, kity 1619 table saw, metabo PT etc... 16A supply available but would prefer normal 13A. Budget is around 400 - there is flexibility there - quiet would be good as is good pm2.5... good...

    Processing some cherry...

I have been given a few cherry trunk sections that came down in a storm about 3 years ago and have been stacked out of the worst of the weather off the ground... (see attachment). The sections are about 10-12" in diameter and 4' long. Is it worth trying to process these, and if so, how? I do...

    Hobbymat BFE 65 milling head...

Hi I've had one of these for many many years (and the MD 65 lathe that goes with it). I've not used the BFE for years - just tried to and it seems to have a fairly serious gearbox issue - not at all sure what that might be... Anyone know anything about these? Note: I have the manual - just...

    Suggestions...

I have some 90 degree trim for a room I'm panelling. Part of the ceiling is slightly sloping off the horizontal by 18 degrees so the angle is not 90 but 108. The question is how to alter the 90 degree trim to 108, i.e. by taking 9 degrees off each face... But how to do that on a 2.4 MTR bit...
