    Seasoning for beginners

With bowls and hollow forms you can rough turn them to say a wall thickness of one inch, then coat the end grain or the whole thing with a 50% pva mix, then wrap in paper and dry store for 3 to 6 months before final turning. Wax is traditional but is a messy time consuming business. You can also...

    Carbide Cutter

I have sent both CHJ and Noel messages explaining... again .. I am not here for commercial reasons, Noel cherry picked a line from a post of mine, he obviously neglected to read further where I stated quite clearly "But I am not here to plug my tools" I got involved in the discussion...

    Carbide Cutter

It is no secret that we make and sell a carbide tool ... all this came about after 30 years of wood turning, I have a tool that will replace all the tools you mentioned, and we are developing others for specialist tasks. But I am not here to plug my tools, those that pm'd me and asked have been...

    Carbide Cutter

Sorry but I have to disagree with that entirely, carbide holds a sharper edge and for longer, is quicker and easier to resharpen and does not require specialist sharpening equipment. Plus you can buy one tool that will do the job of four HSS.

Update. Yandles were unbelievably rude and I have to say I was quite shocked by their attitude, Sykes Timber were very helpful and are going to try and source me some. The irritating bit is I can get some from the USA easily, apart from the fact that FedEx wants £200 to ship it, so thats now a...

    Multi-tip advice

Yes I have seen this thread, we are currently working on a patent application for an innovative design, our costs are considerably less than those available, and our replacement cutters are alot cheaper than people are currently paying, we use easily available inserts and supply a spare tip and...

    Honing query

Look in the post list for a post ... multi tips ... I posted in there how to sharpen them, it works the same for HSS tips as it does for carbides.

    Multi-tip advice

I make these tools ... and yes I sell them to .... carbide insert tips are very simple to redress an edge on, buy a set of cheap diamond hones, the type that come in red, yellow, blue backed plastic, course, medium and fine ... get a small container of water and place the course hone in it...

Thankyou for all your inputs, I had completely forgotten about Yandles !! Due to the style and type of object, and the prestigeous customer, laminating is not an option, though I had considered it, I also considered dropping an Ash especially to supply the pieces and have them dried. But I...
