    Makita SP6000 Plunge Saw flaw?

Apologies, I should have pointed out that these are 110v models running through transformers. However the fact remains that the Festool had an issue whereas the Makita didn't on identical supplies. It isn't an issue isolated to one job either and on each occasion we were running on mains power...

    Makita SP6000 Plunge Saw flaw?

I own the Makita, a friend owns the Festool TS55R, I've used both quite a bit. I know the issue the op is referring to, the guides on the saw base are further apart than on the Festool so as you get to the end of the track the first guide can leave the rail before you've finished the cut...

    Sliding Sash Window refurb Advice

Remove the staff bead on the interior, this will let you get the bottom sash out, then you'll have to remove the parting bead and remove the top sash the same way, the top sash runs against the beaded facing which more than likely is mostly behind the reveal. Don't try and take this part off...

    Tradesmen...18v Cordless drill recommendations please.

Hilti. I'm a site based tradesman and work my drill very hard. I've used it for driving trek screws into steel, drilling out for sash/deadlocks, large diameter hole saws etc. It's now 5 1/2 years old and has not missed a beat once. I'm still astounded by it really. I have purchased a matching...

    Some kind of stupid

A workmate and I were doing some work in a flat, mainly laminate flooring but one room we had to lay carpet tiles. Neither of us had done this before, it was getting pretty late and if we got it finished we'd be able to go home the next day (we were working away). Needless to say things quickly...

    Hilti Circular Saw

Hilti work a bit differently to other tool companies in that they sell their stuff direct, either through their Hilti centres/online or via mobile reps. If you ring Hilti they will give you the contact details for your local rep, he'll probably bring a tool out to you for you to try before you...

    Cheapest place to buy Festool.

Seeing as you aren't too far away Barnes in Barrowford (near Burnley) are selling off a lot of their Festool stuff. I picked up an OF1010 router for £240 inc vat last week. Probably best to call them first if you are after specific items to see what they still have.

Paslode 350 playing up, any ideas?

Have you tried another gas in it? Sometimes you get iffy cans, especially non Paslode ones. Even though there might be plenty left in they refuse to fire.

Fixing mirror to MDF backing board

I'd play it safe anyway and just use Mirror Mate. I've used it to stick 8'x4' mirrors with no other fixings and not had any issues with it. It's the only thing I've found to reliably stick mirrors to tiles so should get a great grip on mdf.

guidance with my tablesaw, very new to the sport.

Yeah, 40t is probably a bit fine for ripping, especially something hard like oak and with a relatively small motor. Also consider the angle of the teeth, for a table saw you want a positive rake.

guidance with my tablesaw, very new to the sport.

Something not right there, I've never seen a table saw deflect by as much as 5-10degrees. I'm not familiar with your particular brand of saw but it must be the whole motor body that is moving for it to be so far out. What blade is in? A fine tooth blade will happily cut up sheet materials but...

Festool CTL Midi Mobile Dust Extractor 15 Litre 1200w

I have heard it said that a particular Numatic HEPA bag does fit the small Festool extractors, not sure just which one it is though. Browsing through FOG should bring up an answer. I too empty the bags and reuse, the fabric bags that they use now are really sturdy. Also echo what was said...

    Guide rail bag

It's also much better quality than the Festool one.

Track Saws. What point am I missing?

Slingers in Preston are still showing them in stock with free next day delivery. Also have some package deals with Festool extractors. Got to say though having used my Makita and a friends TS55R back to back yesterday I certainly don't regret my choice.

Track Saws. What point am I missing?

If it's the TS55R they won't, Festool stuff is pretty much price fixed.

Track Saws. What point am I missing?

It's incredible what old systainers go for, I'm planning on swapping mine for T-Locs and it looks like I'll end up in profit, madness!

Track Saws. What point am I missing?

Another Makita owner here and very happy with it too. Had a go with a brand new TS55R today and there is very little to choose between the two. The Festool has a better depth stop set up but the Makita has a more powerful and smoother sounding motor and an anti tilt device when cutting bevels...

I decided to step onto the slippery slope....

How come you didn't go for the TS55R? They are a brilliant tool, I was a bit of a cheapskate and went for Makitas version though. It's easily paid for itself already.

    Yep, you assume correctly.

Advise please nail guns and nails

The Paslodes are the market leaders for a reason, as long as they are serviced regularly they are very reliable. I haven't used the Makita but have used the Hitachi and never got on with that at all, seemed bulkier and prone to misfires. Bostitch do one as well, their 16g finish nailer is a...
