    Planing Advice

I have this P/T and have just finished ( I hope ) setting it up. There should be a 1mm gap between the cutter block and tables when the infeed table is at zero. You can get a crib sheet from NMA to help if you need one. There is a tool that comes with the machine to help set the blade height...

    1010 or 1400...sliding or what?

I've got both (is that a gloat?) and the 1400 is probably the better option. But you REALLY NEED both!!!

    Planer Knife setting Jigs

Have a look on the WoodWhisperer web site. He has a good video on setting up a planer using a straight edge and dial gauge. He didn't find other methods as accurate.

    Hammer n4400

I've had no problems with a 16 amp supply - although I was told that they ran off 13 amp by one of the reps!!

    Workshop Heaven

Bought a M42 bandsaw blade from Workshop Heaven in October last year.I'm a hobby user so I was surprised when it failed at the weld last week whilst cutting some 20 mm Hard Maple. Messaged Matthew asking for his thoughts and he arranged for a free replacement. Quality of service I feel worth...

    DeWalt DW738 Bandsaw

I've got one of these that I am looking to sell - it even has a stand and some blades. Collection only so it may be too far for you. PM me if you are interested. The machine will resaw up to 150 mm with a new blade and is solidly built.

    Woodworking TV

I think you would need a broader "brush" to attract a wider audience. For me a combination of tools, technique and projects would be best. An example might be a simple dovetailed box. Identify the tools you need - saw, chisel marking equipment - discuss alternative ways in terms of both equipment...

    Tool shops in Canada

Thanks for the replies. I will still be saving money even without a tax rebate. It's a pity I'm not going myself - there looks to be a Home Depot close to the Lee Valley store - I could probably fill a couple of suitcases.

    Tool shops in Canada

My son is going to Canada soon for a holiday (Halifax area). Can anyone recommend somewhere he can pick up a few tools from my 'essential equipment' list. I was thinking in particular about a couple of Veritas planes.

    Bandsaw advice

I only have experience with the Hammer. It is very solid and will resaw easily. I'm not impressed with the dust extraction though - but this seems to be a general problem with bandsaws. Setting the tension is easy and appears fairly accurate. Blade guides are good.

    Individual Leigh jig bits

Jason, I have bought several 8mm bits. They were either from Rutlands or Axminster but I'm not sure which.

I agree with the others. Some of the videos are really interesting for 'amateurs' like me.

    Getting the mitre guage dead-on 45 ?

There's a video on the woodsmith website on setting up a table saw for mitres. It's well worth a look. I think this is the correct link http://www.woodmagazine.com/bettertv/?c ... 1827891204

How connect Metabo Orbital Sander to dust extraction

An adaptor is available ( I asked at one of the woodwork shows and they checked their catalogue ). I can connect mine to my Trend extractor but the suction slows the sander down. You really need a way to bleed some air in.

    Bathroom mirror frame

Thanks for the quick replies. I'll give the silicon a miss then.

    Bathroom mirror frame

I'm making a mirror frame and have rebated the back for the mirror and plywood backing. Should I use some silicon sealer to bed the mirror on?

Rail & Stile on router table Im baffled

I've got the Jessem. There should be some adjustment screws ( you can access them without removing the plate ) that should level things up. Have you tried this?

Jessem Router table or Sedgwick spindle moulder?

I'll second Decklans comments. I have the same set-up (even the same router). I've also got the Jessem mitre gauge to go with it. Great piece of kit.
