Norbury Park Sawmill Open weekend - 8th, 9th September

Just in case anyone is at a loose end for what to do tomorrow, Norbury Park Sawmill is having an open weekend on the 8th and 9th September. Went to see it today and it was a really interesting place and they gave a good tour as well. They are based in Surrey, just off the M25 on the A24...

New shed construction - some assembly required...

Thanks guys. Equipment wise, I used my bandsaw (SIP 01444) with one of the Tuffsaw blades, and a cheapy Evolution mitre saw. Everything else was hand done. Thankfully I have a garage which I can use as a workshop, while the shed itself will only be used for storage.

New shed construction - some assembly required...

Makes sense Dick, will see how it goes with the air in there then, and ad a vent if needed. This was tanalised so to be honest I was going to leave it as it. Need to get some more pics up as well - must get on that. Thanks, Jonathan

New shed construction - some assembly required...

Thanks Dick, yes I suppose it was a quick build . One of the bank holiday jobs was to fit corner strips - I cut them down from some of the left over tongue and groove (bandsaw job with one of Ians blades - much beter than the blade it came with I must add). Also have fitted some 4 x 1...

New shed construction - some assembly required...

No comments at all, huh. Still, the blog continues...After taking some time out to treat the back panel, I've done a bit more work now. Built the front, door, and top, and I now have a shed :huray:. I got a local glazier to cut me a piece of glass to size, and made a basic door. The roof...

New shed construction - some assembly required...

Well the build continues. I have done the back and sides now. I'm making one panel at a time and then attaching them together. The idea here being I can get on with this by myself, as my loving girlfriend isn't always free to help  . As expected I have made the odd mistake as I have...

New shed construction - some assembly required...

After having assembled a bought shed last year, I decided to have a go at making my own this time. I had a space out the back of the house which was 12' by 5', up against my neighbours extension. Originally it had a non planning approved lean to on it, which was flashbanded to next doors...

Wood gloat part 2 - Stacking (Pictures)

Pleasure to help Jon - and I bet you're glad to start getting it stacked safely away inside. Those burr peaces look amazing. The offcuts have made a good stack outside my back door and even SWMBO was impressed. Let me know when you need a hand again (and I'll even bring my sharp chainsaw...

DIY shed build; plans and likely costs

Out of interest, why advise against pressure treated for the studs, and roof trusses? I'm going to be a building a shed soon, so am just drawing up a parts list and assumed that I would just use pressure treated throughout...

Logs for milling - Guildford area.

No, I wouldn't be surprised mate, lol. Thanks though and just let me know if you need any extra hands - always happy to help. I do a fair bit of work for my local wildlfie trust on a weekend, and enjoy working outside so much more than being in an office all day. So if there is a chance for...

Logs for milling - Guildford area.

Wood Monkey, I can't help with recommendations I'm afraid, but I'd be interested in the offcuts if you haven't any other plans for them (fuel for the log burner next year). Happy to come and help on a weekend if you need an extra pair of hands dealing with them.

SIP bandsaws - good price, but are they worth it....

Well, my SIP Bandsaw (model 01444) has arrived, and I got it up and running at the weekend. Given I am a novice and have nothing to compare against, it seems to be a good saw. Even the blade it came with makes quick work of the logs I have had to cut down to length so far. I have no doubt for...

    SIP Power Toos

I hope they are good - I've got one of their bandsaws coming in the new year :D

SIP bandsaws - good price, but are they worth it....

What, Rutlands? They were selling it a couple of days ago (atleast I hope they were, I've just got the paperwork through for it, lol), although I have just checked on there and it no longer exists which is very strange. I wonder whether they removed it for the big sale that has just started?

When it turns up and I've had chance to use it I'll post up some thoughts on it.

SIP bandsaws - good price, but are they worth it....

I know I just spotted that - I was gutted, only ordered it two days ago. Will have to see what they can do about that...

SIP bandsaws - good price, but are they worth it....

No one has any comments on these then - I actually took the plunge and bought one from Rutlands yesterday as they had their 10% offer on. It was the SIP 1444 model, which shouldbe fine for me for cutting logs down, and any otther work I put through it as well.

SIP bandsaws - good price, but are they worth it....

I'm looking to get a bandsaw for some rough work (mainly cutting up logs - yes I'm lazy), and have come across this one (can't post the link apparently as I am nnew member - but it is a SIP 14" Wood bandsaw and satand for £450) As I say, I am mainly after it for cutting logs for the fire, but I...
