JUST BROUGHT ELEKTRA BECKUM BAS 315 SOME ADVICE PLEASE !

Hi Mark The 317 has some nice updates that make adjustment easier, but the saw running gear is I think identical. Find manuals and details for both models at: http://www.metabo.co.uk/Product-catalog ... eb2.0.html Metabo still seem to support old Elektra Beckum kit through their customer...

    It's snow joke

I'm a soft southerner too t8hants and like you remember 1962/63 winter vividly. I took the Queen's shilling October 62 and was stationed near Aldershot. Didn't stop shovelling snow for about 6 months after basic training. Relocated to the Peak District over 30 years ago so the army training has...

    Planer/Thicknessers?

I treated myself to a p/t last year and found a bargain priced Metabo. This is my first and only p/t so I cannot compare with others, but for my hobby use it has delivered everything I had hoped for. 2 things good chip extraction essential - wheel kit essential. I did google a minute ago and...

COULD WE LEARN FROM THE ANCIENT EGYPTIANS ?

Mostly the Egyptians were using bronze, pure copper is rare and expensive. Cost and availability were the main reasons for the historically significant move from copper alloys to iron. Bronzes. now often referred to simply as copper alloys, are of many different compositions and are often...

    Bandsaw motor not starting

Hi Bob Sorry to be so long getting back to you. I unbolted back plate and pulled it out, with attached fan, as far as it wished to come, about an inch. I could see only the shaft, nothing else. Took photo on iPhone, but forum rejects it as invalid, so will try to email to you directly. Cheers Terry

    Bandsaw motor not starting

Thanks again Bob I have to go to a tutorial soon which will take up most of the afternoon, so may not be back with photos until tomorrow. Nothing to indicate that there is an external switch. I think the back should be easy to remove and I think also that I have a suitable multimeter. Terry

    Bandsaw motor not starting

Thanks Bob I hope to follow your instructions shortly. As it does not currently spin up at all with the replacement capacitator I have checked by part number that the correct one was supplied - it was. However I have a new concern as I note that it is rated at 12 mF. I think I will therefore...

    Bandsaw motor not starting

Thanks all for advice. Metabo gave 3rd party supplier details for replacement capacitator which pleased and surprised me- price was OK at £6. But it hasn't fixed problem. There is no obvious 2nd capacitator that I can see. The centrifugal switch sounds an interesting possibility. I will look...

    Bandsaw motor not starting

I am having difficulty sorting problem on my Elektra Beckum BAS315 bandsaw. On start up I get a humming noise, but motor does not spin up. I can get it going by pushing the blade with a stick- it then functions perfectly. I found and read an earlier topic suggesting replacement of capacitator...

I got a Titan-Pro 6ton electric a couple of winters ago. Its given me good service. I would recommend that whatever you go for you should get a stand with it to get it to a reasonable working height.
