    Rasps

Whilst not diminishing the skill and expertise of the few remaining French rasp makers it should be pointed out that rasps being touted from The Best Things (USA) as being made by ex-Auriou employees is not accurate. It is perfectly true that some of the stitching is done by an ex-Auriou...

    Classic Hand Tools 2009 Events

I should be able to update on who is coming to which show next year by Mid February. As yet I can't confirm anything but the dates. Some very interesting comments about the various merits of each show/location particularly in relation to Westonbirt. To the gentleman who asked about Brian Boggs...

Westonbirt Festival of the Tree - Exhibitree 22-25 August

Thanks for the suggestion. Will try and make the end next to the masterclassroom as quiet as possible. Having been promised the Oak Hall I am bitterly disappointed that this promise has been retracted so we will be running the masterclasses (Chris Pye is running 3) in the usual place at the end...

Westonbirt Festival of the Tree - Exhibitree 22-25 August

Not my call and I will get shot by the various factions at Westonbirt if I start creating precedents to invite guests so I have to say it won't be possible at the actual arboretum camp site (this only exists for the duration of this one show each year). It is very difficult to find camping and...

Westonbirt Festival of the Tree - Exhibitree 22-25 August

MULTIPLE DAY TICKETS I certainly suggested this when I went to meet with the new organiser last month. Seemed to be an everso difficult thing for them to achieve so the short answer is very likely to be no but I promise I did try. STAYING LOCALLY - Tetbury is quaint, has a bus link to Bath...

Spiers Improved Mitre Plane - questions

Please do not touch this plane - I would agreed with others and let David Stanley handle any valuation or sale for you, you may have a valuable plane that you can easily make less appealing by cleaning incorrectly..A bit of WD40 just to stop any worsening but from what I can see the rusting is...

Dave Jeske is my hero (unashamed gloat coming up, sorry)

Hello - I think you are being a bit unfair on my company Classic Hand Tools in respect of your price comparison. You (hopefully) will not have to pay duty and VAT when the goods re-emerge in UK. You are also happily missing out on the the carriers customs clearance charges. Like for like the...

    Any further news about Auriou?

Michel Auriou is trying to start up again but it will take at least another 6 months before production starts again and there are many hurdles to clear. I will keep you abreast of any significant developments. All being well the rasps may re-appear in Autumn 2008. Here's hoping! :)

    Good Summer for Bashes

Hello Everybody - good to see many of you at various shows this year and I hope you particularly enjoyed the event at Westonbirt in August.
