Startrite 275 saw with no fence - options needed.

I'm not going to do a full write up of my work, however there is a picture story board here -http://bitz.me.uk/sawbench/ if you have questions, do ask. I used 2" x 2" x 1/4" angle or rather metric equivalent, which also acts as supports for extending the saw table. he box section was 50mm x...

Wot... you'd then see the total chaos and mess in my workshop!

Startrite 275 saw with no fence - options needed.

Without checking, I'm pretty sure its 100mm x 50mm. Its from bits I've 'had on the shelf' for years. I originally salvaged various bits of sloted channel that was used to construct a guard/safety barrier that was not used on a machine that the company I worked for had purchased from Germany.

Startrite 275 saw with no fence - options needed.

Hi, Thanks for the offer of the plans, unfortunately its a bit late now as I've finished constructing it. Today I spray painted all the bits, bar the aluminium fence. Having been in engineering most of my life I'm used to making things from scratch with design changes to suit the available...

Startrite 275 saw with no fence - options needed.

I had a price off a company specialising in Startrite spares. They wouldn't give an exact price, but said £500 - £600! I've seen damaged startrites for far less than that! Now building a biesemeyer style fence.

Startrite 275 saw - Shaft lock?

Ah... it helps to look at the other end of the shaft! Everyone is correct, found the hole in the bed and poked a screwdriver down said hole and found the hole in the shaft. Seems to be about 6.5mm, but will double check. The only tools I had were two pressed steel spanners, not even a fence!

Startrite 275 saw - Shaft lock?

Hi Guy's, Am I missing something, is there a way (other than block of wood jammed in to blade) to lock the blade support shaft whilst removing the shaft nut? I can't see anything obvious. Thanks in advance.

Startrite 275 saw with no fence - options needed.

I've just bought a Startrite 275 saw, however it has no fence :( Looking at a few spares suppliers, it looks like a Startrite original will be as much as I paid for the saw (not such a bargain). I've found this option - http://www.yandles.co.uk/kreg-precision ... nce/p16100 which looks quick to...

Drawer runners sliders - heavy duty

Thanks everyone for the leads :) I think Custard is getting close to the point. Perhaps I've encountered too many cardboard kitchen units with drinks can metal for sliders :( This is for my own kitchen which is going to be oak and I intend to only do it once. I really don't want to revisit the...

Drawer runners sliders - heavy duty

Thanks guys, I've looked at the Blum products before, they're not exactly heavy duty. I've taken a look at the flash Grass website/products, as I said flash, but nothing really heavy duty :(

Drawer runners sliders - heavy duty

I'm looking for good quality draw runners that are **not** made of pressed tin that have a max life expectancy of a year or so. I need the runners to extend by about 450mm -600mm from their fixed position. Hopefully if I get some with a good weight carrying capacity, they'll last 20 plus years...

Curly, Bent, Preformed plywood panel wanted.

Some years a go I purchased from a company who now call themselves Gibbs & Dandy some preformed plywood intended for the bottom step on domestic stair cases as shown in my basic sketch below; Its made from 8 or 10mm ply with a reasonably good natural finish. Approximately 250mm wide by about...

Sawbench - retro fit fence guide

Thanks guy's, some good leads. I was asked what sawbench I have, well.... its a robust one I built years a go, using mainly 40mm x 40mm box section, 3mm plate on the top with a tooth belt driven 300mm diameter blade. The top is about 800mm square and driven by a 2hp single phase motor. Oh, its...

Sawbench - retro fit fence guide

Hi guys, I've been considering getting a new saw bench, however now think my existing one would be okay (far more robust than many tin constructed units), however my biggest issue with it is the lack of a decent fence. I have been 'G' clamping a straight edge to it for years, but takes time to...
