Elektra Beckum HC 260 cutting out fix ....

Have you found the problem? If not: It sounds liked something is temporarily breaking contact .. may due to heat (& remakes when cooled, such as a safety switch in the motor if you have dull knives etc) or vibration (less likely as that break would fail outright soon enough.. but I have seen...

Is the Metabo HC260 any good? Currently dimensioning with bandsaw and handplanes.

I purchased a second-hand E Beckum HC260 +5yrs ago from someone on here. Until this week I rated it highly as a hobbiest's machine... I now have a twisted/ warped "Thicknesser Bed". I made a small table top a few weeks ago without any need for hand planing prior to gluing up so I'm a bit...

What ideas have you had for reducing Electricity consumption

I had a victoriana terrace with the cold wind whistling up through the floorboards, chilling my feet, which the central heating couldn't do anything about. If it were just me I'd have lifted the floorboards & installed ridgid insulation boards between the rafters & 300mm down the walls. However...

Carpenter Recommendations Wanted for Brum Job

Good Evening..it's been a while. Hopefully it's within posting rules to ask for trade recommendations for some carpentry work required. Good friends of mine back in Birmingham are looking for a decent carpenter & I was wondering if anyone here can recommend someone or put themselves forward to...

    Ledged brace frame doors

I made my 1 & only Ledged & Braced gate from reading this book & I was very happy with how it went. https://lostartpress.com/products/doormaking-and-window-making It is old fashioned, no nonsense, time served experience. Maybe it's not the easiest read because it is straight from a bygone era...

Who has achieved 1000cfm at their static machines (a la Bill Pentz).. if so, how?

Thanks John. That looks great. I was thinking about putting the blastgates up high too but hadn't got round to figuring out how to operate them- now I know. Ace. What efficiency is your motor & does it have a VFD ? If not so great (IE 1 or 2) it might be good idea to get a VFD, it should pay...

Who has achieved 1000cfm at their static machines (a la Bill Pentz).. if so, how?

They use them on the tabling of waste disposal units in commercial kitchens to stop cutlery going in.

Who has achieved 1000cfm at their static machines (a la Bill Pentz).. if so, how?

At the risk of sounding like a Bill Pentz fanatic, he had one & says they work well but only at a "trash can" size. "We could build a much bigger trashcan separator that would work, but for the 1000 CFM we need for good fine dust collection, we end up needing a 5'2" wide trashcan that sits...

Thanks.. Bill says minimum of 14" but it's on the right track.

Who has achieved 1000cfm at their static machines (a la Bill Pentz).. if so, how?

Thanks for the link to the calculator, very good of you... but man, now my head is spinning... gas pipelining is soo much easier than that ventilation. I will try it again when I've had more sleep. Metal on aluminium strikes are easily done if you use your system to vacuum your floor or...

Who has achieved 1000cfm at their static machines (a la Bill Pentz).. if so, how?

Hello Heimlaga, nice set up ... do you still have the cyclone plans you can send me please ? I couldn't find it on Bill's website - a lot of the links are now 404... no, I 've just found it. Doh. Can you show us your filter set up too, if you don't mind ? Although it's not nice to hear that...

Who has achieved 1000cfm at their static machines (a la Bill Pentz).. if so, how?

A 1ph motor is not an option.. all my calculations showed 5Hp ws 20.7... & @ 3ph ="4A. Is the higher amp drawer due to efficiency/ inefficiency ..or they don't take load into the calculations.? It all adds up & I need to keep the power demand down. I should also install a consumption meter...

Who has achieved 1000cfm at their static machines (a la Bill Pentz).. if so, how?

I realise that I have some calculations to do to get a system specification's correct ... I was a gas "engineer" with commercial & industrial pipework tickets until recently so I am used to working out pipework sizing but this is not quite the same. If I don't have air resistance data to work...

Who has achieved 1000cfm at their static machines (a la Bill Pentz).. if so, how?

Brian; I am sneezing & sniffling as I have not set up anything like a decent system while I'm still installing my workshop (I don't want to waste cash on kit which I won't need once I work out what I need & get it, nor cut up existing gear to make it fit a temporary set up). My RAW, a sander &...

Who has achieved 1000cfm at their static machines (a la Bill Pentz).. if so, how?

Hi Baldkev, I have 3ph & I will get whatever size ducting (PVC pipe) I need. My workshop is 4.7m x 6.4m.. I think .. with a sloping ceiling giving decent height at one end. So far I have placed all machines in the lower end/half while my bench & assembly space is at the window end. I work...

Who has achieved 1000cfm at their static machines (a la Bill Pentz).. if so, how?

Hello Gents I would like anyone's buying & fabrication experiences/ knowledge on how they achieved 1000cfm at their machines & how they verified/ tested it. My workshop build has ground to a halt now that I have to wage a war on dust, which has me sneezing within 15 minutes of going in. I've...

French Import Duties on UK Tools & Machinery ?

So.. the next chapter in my "router set up" journey may start with a Fox F60 100A . It doesn't look to be a fantastic set up as it is but at 120 euros I get a lift mechanism, 1/2", 1500W router, NVR & Speed controller with tracks & fence parts etc.. all of which I can hopefully use on another...

French Import Duties on UK Tools & Machinery ?

Thanks again for all the replies & I'm glad it's included lots of advice on router tables & upgrading - all very helpful & very much appreciated. Nice table MikeK ! ... "One day Rodney..." It's given me time to pause & rethink buying the Kreg table top. Is it really not that good a quality ...
