GemRed digital angle rule at Axi

I've had one for over a year and it's been very reliable. Mine lives under the mitre saw, it makes setting angles a doddle. I have a nice reference square to check / zero the rule against.

sutable for router table?? please help

I think he already has the slingshots cut out, he needs the router to roundover the edges. How about a jig holding the slingshots horizontally and then using a small laminate router with guided bit to do the edges ?

    NAS Storage

I have a 2series Synology which has a very simple user interface. You can install the cloud client on your PC and it will automatically keep the folders you select synch'd with a folder of the same name on the NAS. Handy if you have multiple PCs on your network. It also means that a file you...

    Under stairs cupboards

Those doors would have taken me a month and a small fortune in scrap MDF :) I've been summoned home to paint some built in MDF cupboards. What's your recommended method for painting MDF ?

Steve's workshop - Painting the outside walls

Sounds like heaven Steve. I'm stuck with family this year and I'm about to go off the edge ! Currently hiding in the corner with laptop and bottle of bourbon :) I'll have a rummage in the bits box for one of those bolts tomorrow. If someone else sends one in the meantime, can they let the rest...

The lighting in that last image is fantastic. You mightn't need half the lights once it's been painted !

Steve's workshop - Painting the outside walls

I'd be happy to live in that workshop ! I'd rather have a nice clean looking building at the end of my garden, than a direct view to the neighbours house.

    Router Advice....

Just checked mine and the collet appears to be the same as the DW / Elu one described above. A nut (with two flats) and a collet housed loosely inside it. If the temperature in my garage ever gets above freezing, I'll get the router in the table and see about rigging up a a better height adjuster.

    Router Advice....

Not had a chance to play with my TRA0001 yet, but the build quality seems very solid. Kreg do a pre-drilled plate for the Triton.

    metal detector

I have a pinpoint probe that I use for Metal Detecting and checking timber. It'll locate a bit of nail / foil 6" underground, so nails / pins in wood are a doddle for it. I have the Garrett probe, but there are lots of cheaper alternatives out there. Some examples...

Slightly off: polishing really thin clear plastic?

There is a product called Polywatch which is popular with the watch collectors for restoring faces. Google has plenty of links showing before / after demos from genuine users.

    petrol lawnmower (Briggs & Stratton)

As it's second hand, there is no harm in giving it a service. This kit worked out cheaper than buying the oil and spark plug separate. I also put a new diaphram on the carb as I had stripped that to clean out all the varnish that had built up over the years. I'm going to use the stabiliser this...

    Kreg Workbench - thoughts?

I had a look at the build video on youtube. It looks good enough for light use. I've not used the standard Kreg jig on 2x4's so I've no idea how stable the joint is. It'd be just as quick to use butt joints on the horizontal pieces and screw through to the legs. Either way, I'd double up the...

    digital angle finder

Another vote for the Gemred here. I'd buy another tomorrow if I broke my current one. No issues with accuracy, I check it against an engineers square every now and again.
