How many pieces per square inch do you usually cut?

    Bookshelf Cat Puzzle

That's a beauty! I love the idea of leaving out the background, must be much harder to complete - especially if the solver doesn't know about the gap! :?

    Mounting a mantle piece

Thanks all for the great advice. We had wanted an invisible fixing but couldn't get our heads round how with such a heavy beam. Seems like a much simpler option than brackets. Cheers! :D

    Mounting a mantle piece

Hello! Could anybody give me any tips on the best way to fix a 6"x2.5"x5ft oak beam to a brick chimney breast? I think I need a pattern for a pair of sturdy brackets - I should have enough wood left over from the beam to make them. Cheers :)

    Scroll saw puzzle blades

:) Thanks Gill I'll try Mike's. I'm also going to order Swiss 6/0 5/0 4/0 3/0 2/0 blades from Shesto to compare the different sizes and see what suits me (I think they're called 'Razor'). Has anybody tried these out?

    Scroll saw puzzle blades

Hi! I'm working on my first jigsaw puzzle using 2/0 scrollsaw blades which are doing a great job. However, during my searches on the internet, I came across Mike's workshop site in the U.S.A which was advertising: 'Flying Dutchman - Superior Puzzle Blades' I would like to order some to have a go...

    Teapots Puzzle

I used spray glue and yep it was really messy. I have a spray glaze called 'PressIt! Sprayfix Print Protection Spray' which I used on my digital photo print to give extra protection. The jigsaw I'm working on is a printout from my inkjet printer on 270g/m2 satin photopaper - nice and...

    Teapots Puzzle

WOW! That's amazing! Glad I'm not the only one who finds blade sizing confusing. Are you working on anything at the moment? Cheers, and happy jigsaw making!

    Teapots Puzzle

Thanks Carter, you're probably right about the jewelers blades, they sound frustrating (especially for a beginner). I had a look at the measurements on the Sloans website, I don't get it! :? How come an 8/0 thickness is 0.007 and a 3/0 is just slightly thicker at 0.008? Am I missing something...

    Teapots Puzzle

Hi Carter, fantastic puzzles! I've just started cutting my first jigsaw and am really enjoying the challenge. The pieces seem to be turning out to be a sort of vague long round type. I'll attempt to post a photo when I get it finished. I've been using 2/0 blades as you recommended, great for...

    Scrollsawn Jigsaw Puzzles

After a quick search I've found a good site that gives more info on the spray, and it sounds ideal (fingers crossed! [-o< ) http://www.medea.co.uk/pressit/prod_inf ... extras.htm

    Scrollsawn Jigsaw Puzzles

Thanks for the link to the triple thick glaze. This looks good for general pictures, but reading Carter's post on the US Scrollsaw forum, doesn't sound like he reckons it's safe to use on photos. I've found a computer site that sells a spray that protects inkjet prints...

    Scrollsawn Jigsaw Puzzles

Sorry, forgot to add..I like your jigsaw Alf and it has kept really well. :D What sort of photo paper is that, did you print it yourself? Also did you finish the back in any way? I was thinking of using oil.

    Scrollsawn Jigsaw Puzzles

I agree Gill, the freeform style of Carter and a few others I've been researching really appeals. I initially thought they'd be easy to solve, but if you use some tricks, they're really difficult. For example, having straight edge pieces within the jigsaw (how many people start by arranging...

Delta 40570, C or Parallel arm?

Thanks Gill! I'll check out Carter now :D

Delta 40570, C or Parallel arm?

Well, it was too tempting and I bought the Delta 40570. They knocked another £10 off so I paid £168 in the end. Also, because it came with only 1 blade, the kind man dug around in the stock room and gave me a bunch of spiral blades for free (he said they hadn't had any interest in them). I've...

Delta 40570, C or Parallel arm?

Cheers Ike! I was hoping an owner would let me know how they run. Sounds impressive, especially as I've found one at my local builder's merchants for £178. I think this is quite cheap. I was considering an Axminster at £239, but like the comfort of the Delta dealer being only 10 mins away...

Delta 40570, C or Parallel arm?

Having looked at the specifications of the Delta 40570 scroll saw, I am still unsure whether it has a C or Parallel arm system. :? Does anybody out there know?
