    I would highly recommend Steve Goode Scroll saw workshop. Scrollsaw Workshop there are approx 3,500 patterns you can download for I think $20. He also creates one a day which you can receive by being on his mailing list.

    I also have a Robert Sorby chuck with that thread for a Poolwood lathe. It is double threaded so can also be used on the other end of the spindle for large bowl turning.     Another way I have used is to insert a 60degree live centre in the tailstock. bring the headstock and tailstock together with the live centre in the MT of the headstock. When contact made should be aligned.

    I would suggest you watch on YT Mike Waldt beginners guides videos. The usual problem with wood jumping out of a chuck is the tenon is incorrectly prepared for the chuck jaws.
