    Wedge making jig

Hah, I needed some wedges the other day, and came across the same video. So simple, and worked for me

    Axminster TS-200 Setup

It's been a while since I've touched the saw, as I've had other commitments, but hopefully I'll be back on it soon. I don't follow your description of the blade alignment procedure, maybe I need to read it while I've got the saw in front of me. I'll continue to add to this thread if/when I do...

    Cheap Piller Drill Lidl

I have one from Aldi wthich must be about 10 years old now. I'll have to check the specs on it, but it looks very similar. I've recently had problems with the belt slipping, and discovered that the tension adjustment (bolts that hold the motor back) had come looose, so it was slipping if trying...

    Axminster TS-200 Setup

Been a while since I've been out to the garage, here's today's progress. I marked up the riving knife to be just below the teeth on the blade. Before cutting it up, I thought I should make a template so I know what shape it needs to be if I need to make a new one. This is the height I decided...

    americans on youtube

Some of the woodworkers on youtube that I watch now and then: Frank Howarth - Easy going, a good variety of projects and obviously puts a lot of work into producing the videos too. John Heisz - Makes a lot of his own tools, seems to be just for the hell of it, some interesting ideas. Matthias...

    Axminster TS200 - First impressions

This was a big part of why I took the plunge, this and the sudden price drop :)

    Axminster TS200 - First impressions

I've found the same issue where lowering the blade causes the dust port to hit the back of the casing and move everything over in the process. I'd be very interested in hearing what Axminster have to say about it. I'll check tomorrow about the blade moving sideways as you raise it. I've aligned...

    Axminster TS-200 Setup

Yesterday I decided to try and sort out the blade alignment. I made a holder for my dial indicator out of a scrap of laminate flooring. I first tried cutting a hole using a hole saw, but my hole saws are cheap and nasty, and they just produced lots of smoke. So, I ended up using my band saw (a...

    Axminster TS-200 Setup

I rang Axminster today, the knife is as you say £4.20, but they wanted £5 postage. I'll probably just modify the knife I have and order a new one if/when I next order from them. Or find some random piece of sheet steel of the correct thickness and make one. J

    Axminster TS-200 Setup

Thanks for the details. I haven't extended the slot yet, but that's the plan. I just ran out of time on the weekend. Also I need to verify the blade alignment before I go any further, this insert may be scrap anyway if the blade is misaligned.

    Axminster TS-200 Setup

I don't see a problem with removing the knife, just take note of any slivers of shims that come out when you take it apart, and put things back where you found them. Plunging through was noisy, but no problem really. Using the fence to hold it down (as well as the screws) worked well. I think...

    Axminster TS-200 Setup

After reading many of the threads on the TS-200, I decided to actually go and have another tinker. The fence has now been adjusted by actually adjusting the rail, seems fine now - Thanks I'll continue adding my progress with this saw here, feel free to comment or ignore me. I decided that next...

    Axminster TS-200 Setup

Ah yes, I'll take a look at getting one of the DVDs. Yes, that handle can be repositionnned. Had to fiddle a bit to get it to be loose enough when it's right round under the fence to get the fence off, and tight enough just before it gets in the way to stop the fence moving. I don't think it...

    Axminster TS-200 Setup

Thanks for the info regarding sorting out the fence, obvious now that you explain it. Why the manual couldn't just say that is a mystery. Actually, looking at the instructions, I'm still not convinced that's what it's trying to tell me, but I'll give your suggestion a go anyway. My fence...

    Axminster TS-200 Setup

Hi, I've finally managed to find a bit of time to go and have a look at the TS-200 I bought last week After attaching the fence rail, the first thing that I found was that the fence was not running square to the mitre slot. It runs away from the blade by almost 3mm at the leading edge of the...

    Festool to Wickes Vac

I've found a good way to make your own adaptors between similar sizes of small vacuum cleaner type hose ends and hand held tools is to use some 40mm bathroom waste pipe and a heat gun. Heat it till it becomes flexible, then wiggle the thing you're trying to fit into it in the end until it...

Site saw vs. cabinet saw (specifically Axminster)

It now does say that it includes the extension table if you select the "TS-200 Standard" from the drop-down box on the right.

    New TS200 Mk2

Yep, if £20 (£22 today) is a kick in the nuts, then the £95 is something a whole lot more painful. As sploo says, if it's in the free return period, I'd seriously consider it. Also I notice today they actually mention the fact that it has the R/H extension included.

    New TS200 Mk2

I've only seen the sliding table in pictures, so not really sure what it does and what it's used for. I'd assumed from the start thtat i'd build a cross cut sledge like the ones that seem so popular on youtube. What would a sliding table allow me to do, or what jigs won't I need if I have one...
