    spindle size

    I am building my own lathe and am now in need of sourcing a steel rod to be machined down as a spindle. Could you please tell me the average spindle diameter on a heavy duty lathe and your opinion on what thread to machine on to each end to allow for chucks/faceplates? Thanks in advance, Jon

    Plane Handles

    Just sanded down the handles to a Record no.6 back to the bare beech, I would like the handles to look similar to the lie-nielson ones, could you recommend a finish that would achieve this please. Regards, Jon

    Dust extraction problem on a mitre saw

    My evolution rage sliding mitre saw has a 34mm extraction port, whereas my vax nozzle is only 29mm. Is there a special reducer fitting around as I would like if poss to avoid taping is as I use the vax for other machines. Thanks, Jon

    Screw holes in bottom of bowl

    After turning my first bowl :) I need to find a way of hiding the four holes left by the screws in the faceplate. I was thinking about using epoxy putty to fill them and then treat the bowl with some vegetable oil to bring out the colour. http://img395.imageshack.us/img395/3575/sdc10668.jpg...
