Is an oscillating saw the same thing as a reciprocating saw? I haven't got one anyway but I'll give the flat spade a go. Thanks guys.

    Removing cork tiles.

I'm just about to ceramic tile a 1st floor bathroom. Some of the existing floor has Cork tiles adhered to the floor boards. Any ideas about how to remove them?

    Mystery hand tools

The second tool from the bottom is a dresser and this is generally used to flatten the sheet lead. It can also be used to 'set in' along upstands and 'rolls'. Dressers have been made from yellow plastic for the last 40 years. They last longer than boxwood and do not mark the lead so much.

    Mystery hand tools

You're mostly correct. I would call that a Mandrel and its used for straightening extruded lead pipe. A Dolly is sometimes a tool made from solder and a drain rod to assist bossing corners etc. A chase wedge is for setting in corners and driving in roll ends.

Using flashing tape as roofing material

You'll need some seaming pliers for zinc. Dog ear the corners. Welt the edges over some nailed cleats. Better still use .6mm copper sheet. It's easier to work with and considered a more noble metal.

    How old is this roof?

Roofshield isn't a VCL. It's breather membrane. It's hard to say what the problem is from a photo but there are signs of white spores in one of the pictures and this is a sure sign of condensation. The condensation may be forming from the water that has saturated the battens etc and hips may...

    How old is this roof?

There may be ventilation problem here. The tile headlap doesn't look too bad for the pitch. There's probably other problems such as bad hip and Ridge detailing but the black staining leads me to think there's a condensation problem caused by a lack of a VCL and eave ventilation.

    scaffold board rubbish

Just a quick note to all those that use second hand scaffold boards in their work. Having worked in the roofing industry for over 40 years I would seriously question using them for anything else other than the use for which they were they intended. Apart from the extremely high levels of...

Why don't they standardise batteries and make them interchangeable at petrol stations?

    Lets talk about Jeans

I bought 2 pairs of 501s that were real brand new vintage. IE They were made in the 90s and were found in an old warehouse in Spain. They are absolute quality. Don't know how to link but Google John Simons clothing. It is the coolest clothing shop in the UK by far.
