    Table saw questions

Thanks Steve, that confirms what I thought. Any ideas how on to make good use of this saw? I had thought of making a crosscut and mitre slide for example.

    Table saw questions

Hi all, I did a deal with a friend and traded a bit of work for a table saw, it's a SIP with a 10" blade. The insert around the blade was broken so I made one up out of plywood. My first question is whether there should be riving knife directly behind the blade or is the one that the blade guard...

    Camper van project

Hi Keith, yes I did the design. It's changed many times and continues to change, it's all about making the best use of the space available and adapting it to you own needs. I'm currently working on a switch panel to control the lights and split charging system. I can't see the point of paying...

    Camper van project

Hi all, I've not been around for a while. I joined up here originally because I wanted to make a bandsaw box, but I got a bit ambitious with my next project; converting a van into a camper. The van isn't finished by a long way, but it's fitted out well enough to be able to get away on holiday...

    My first bandsaw box

I have three daughters, a daughter-in-law and a grand daughter; they all want one! So I guess the answer is YES! They turned out much better that I expected. The workmanship is pretty average, it's the natural beauty of the wood that really make them shine! .....and that's not false...

    Bandsaw boxes

Thanks John! Yeah they were dead easy, I'm gonna get real ambitious with the next one. I used wood glue and loads of rubber bands. I did wear a face mask because I saw that on the rest of the logs I have there is a mold growth that follows the lines in the log, so I presumed it was something...

    Bandsaw Box No 3

After completing my first real woodwork project of a pair of bandsaw boxes I decided to try another more complicated box. So as not to waste any good wood, I picked a handful of 2" x 4" offcuts out of the firewood pile and glued them together. I then cut and sanded the resulting block into a...

    Bandsaw boxes

My first two bandsaw boxes made from a single Silver Birch log. The small one is finished with Teak oil, the large one with Danish oil.

Good thinking Sparkus, I like that idea!

    Router thickness jig

I placed the wood in the middle of the jig with a spacer strip on two sides. Then I used two pairs of wedges on the other two sides. I also thought about just screwing the wood down onto the jig or making brackets to hold it down. The piece I thinned down was mahogany and was quite heavy, I...

Getting a bit of wood machined

I used a router in a home made jig for thicknessing timber for a guitar body. There's a pic of my jig in this thread: router-thickness-jig-t58612.html

    Bandsaw problem, help!

You could start by making a bandsaw box; the old blade may help you with the curves if you take advantage of the bias! What make & model bandsaw did you get Ives?

    Bandsaw problem, help!

Someone once told me that tensioning the blade is very much like tensioning the head on a banjo: tighten it up until it breaks, then back it off 1/4 turn! #-o

    Bandsaw problem, help!

Are you using a new blade or the old one that was on originally? The blade needs to be in good condition and tensioned correctly (that's where the manual comes in handy). The top and bottom guides need to be set correctly and the guide at the back of the blade, both top and bottom need to be set...
